The Details
Location
Kanana Nyana sits on a private concession in one of the Okavango Delta's most productive wildlife areas, bordering Moremi Game Reserve. The camp is set on an elevated position overlooking the Xudum River and its floodplains, with sweeping views across shimmering waterways and open plains.
The name pays homage to the Setswana word for small, a nod to the intentionally low guest count and the exclusivity that comes with it. The camp is open all year round, with land activities on offer throughout and water-based activities running seasonally when floodwaters allow.
Rooms
Four thatched safari suites are tucked into an ancient forest of Marula, Sausage, Ebony and Mokolwane Palm trees, each individually styled and uniquely decorated. Decor draws on the Delta's natural palette of sage green, pale yellow and dusty pink, layered with textured natural materials. Every suite has its own private plunge pool, and weathered timber arches frame the entrance to each.
The central area is generous in scale, with distinct bar, lounge and dining spaces, a gym, and in-room wellness treatments available on request. Wifi is available in camp.
Dining
Meals are served across the distinct dining areas of the main lodge, with all meals, snacks, and selected alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages included in the rate. The setting takes in views over the Xudum River and floodplains, with the layout designed so that dining, drinks and downtime each have their own space rather than sharing a single deck.
Activities
Two game-viewing vehicles operate from camp, each seating four guests despite being configured for six, so drives run with genuine space and unobstructed sightlines. Guests can expect game drives by day, night drives with a spotlight, walking safaris led by expertly trained guides, and seasonal water activities including mokoro, boating and fishing. The private concession allows off-road driving and night drives, both of which are not permitted inside the neighbouring Moremi Game Reserve. Birding across the concession is exceptional.
Kanana Sleep Out
The Kanana Sleep Out offers a private night under the stars in the Okavango Delta. Guests end their afternoon safari directly at the secluded site, where chefs serve a fresh dinner cooked over an open fire. The deck features a bed wrapped in mosquito netting alongside a private bathroom with a heated shower.
At dawn, you eat a fireside breakfast of jaffles and light continental dishes while watching the sunrise over the floodplains. Your morning activity starts straight from the deck, avoiding any need to return to main camp first. Running from April to November, the overnight stay is easiest to coordinate when paired with a private vehicle.

"Booked an 11-day tour starting and finishing in Johannesburg and including Victoria Falls, Chobe and the Okavango Delta. The service from Cearl was very professional with numerous options discussed before settling on the final version. Prices seemed to be very reasonable."
