You Should Know

There is no age limit at LABA Fanjove and the lodge welcomes families, but children under 12 are not permitted at the Light House Restaurant. Families with younger children take meals at the main area or lounge, on the beach in front of the main area, at the kids' club or in the villa.

Child rates apply for guests up to 15 years old. Children aged 0 to 5 sharing with one or two adults stay free of charge, subject to triple-room availability. Children aged 6 to 15 sharing with one or two adults pay 50 percent of the adult rate. From 16 years, full adult rates apply. A maximum of three children per villa is permitted. Babysitting is available at 15 US dollars per hour, paid directly to the babysitter. Two beach barbecues run each week and are open to families.

Accommodation

Fourteen beach villas sit on the seafront with direct access to the ocean. Each villa is built facing the sea using local materials: teak flooring from Tanzanian plantations, traditional makuti roofs, coral-stone walls, doors carved by Zanzibar craftsmen and interior walls finished in palm and Janvi. Bathrooms have both an indoor shower and an open-air shower.

Dining

The Light House Restaurant is the main dining venue and is reserved for adults and children aged 12 and over. Families with younger children eat at the main area and lounge, on the beach in front of the main area, at the kids' club or in-villa. Two beach barbecues each week are open to all guests.

Activities

Included activities cover one marine safari to look for dolphins, snorkelling by boat and from the beach, dhow sailing, sea kayaks and paddle boards, fitness sessions and the kids' club. Bird watching is unguided and done at the guests' own pace.
