The Details
Location
The hotel sits on Long Beach in Kommetjie, a quiet surf village on the Atlantic side of the Cape Peninsula. The Atlantic is at the foot of the garden and Chapman's Peak rises behind, with Slangkop Lighthouse a short walk down the shore. Boulders Beach and its penguin colony, Cape Point and the Noordhoek wine farms are all within a half-hour drive.
Rooms
There are six rooms in total, every one facing the sea. Three Superior Rooms sit on the ground floor at around 540 square feet, each with its own semi-private patio, bath and separate shower. Two Elegant Suites occupy the upper floor at 750 square feet, with completely private balconies and a separate lounge. The single Junior Suite is the largest room at 970 square feet, opens directly onto the pool and can take an extra bed for a child.
Rooms come with 300 thread count cotton linen, underfloor heating, heated towel rails, air conditioning, flat-screen TV with select satellite channels, DVD player, mini-bar, safe, robes and slippers, and locally made botanical amenities. The hotel runs on solar backup, so there is no load shedding.
Dining
Breakfast, afternoon tea and a three-course seafood dinner are served daily, with the dinner menu written specifically for the hotel to showcase local Atlantic produce. If seafood is not for you, the kitchen will cook an alternative to your liking. House wines, beers, ciders, soft drinks and selected spirits are included throughout the stay, poured in the small gin bar or on the terrace over the beach.
Activities
Long Beach is one of the best-known surf spots on the Peninsula, with breaks for every level including Sunset, Long Beach, Washing Machine and Kranz. Boards, wetsuits and lessons can be arranged in front of the hotel. Beyond surfing, guests swim, paddleboard and walk the shoreline, with whale watching from the balcony between roughly July and November. The team arranges day trips to Boulders Beach for the penguin colony, Cape Point Vineyards in Noordhoek, Harbour House in Kalk Bay and the drive out to Slangkop Lighthouse.

She put together what became an absolutely incredible African trip for us in the space of barely three weeks, and from the outset her responsiveness, knowledge and genuine enthusiasm were exceptional. We already had some of our own arrangements in place, including international flights and staying with friends in Cape Town, but Jolene seamlessly incorporated those into the overall itinerary and still organised all the surrounding logistics and transfers. The safari component she designed was outstanding, taking us through Kruger, Victoria Falls, Chobe and the Okavango Delta, before finishing in Cape Town and the Stellenbosch wine region. Every part flowed beautifully and the lodges, experiences and logistics were exceptional. Just as importantly, Jolene stayed in contact throughout the trip at all the key moments, which made travelling so much easier. She would check us in for our internal flights and send through the boarding passes, confirm transfers the day before each pick-up, and make sure everything was in place before we ever had to think about it. That attention to detail, and the fact that she was always one step ahead, removed so much of the usual travel stress and allowed us simply to enjoy the trip. It was genuinely the trip of a lifetime, put together in an extraordinarily short timeframe, and Jolene deserves enormous credit for making it all happen. We could not recommend her highly enough."
