The Details
Lemala Ndutu sits in the Ndutu region of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, on the border of the southern Serengeti. The setting is classic East African savannah, flat grassy plains broken by acacia woodland and seasonal marshes, and the camp occupies one of the finest positions in Ndutu to watch the great migration between December and March.
Tens of thousands of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle arrive in December to graze on the newly watered, mineral-rich short grass plains. By February the main calving season is under way and predator densities, particularly lion, cheetah and hyena, climb sharply as they follow the herds. The camp is the southern half of a two-location operation; its sister site, Lemala Mara, moves north to the Serengeti's Mara River area between June and October.
Accommodation
Nine tents are pitched on the edge of a permanent marsh, each furnished with two queen-size beds (triples on request) and en-suite bathrooms with flush toilets and bucket-fed hot showers. Two of the tents have two bedrooms, designed for friends and families travelling together. Power runs on 24-hour solar with a back-up generator, and charging points are provided in the tents, lounge and bar.
The communal mess tent has separate lounge and dining areas, decorated with leather sofas, rugs, chandeliers and side cabinets to soften the mobile-camp character. Evenings centre on the campfire, with pre-dinner drinks and canapes before dinner in the mess tent.
Game Drives
Game drives run in 4x4 vehicles with Lemala guides who know the Ndutu plains intimately. Full-day drives are encouraged during calving season, with picnic breakfasts and lunches prepared by the camp so guests can stay out following the herds and predator action. The nearest airstrip is Ndutu, a 20-minute transfer from camp.

Meals are freshly prepared in camp and served in the mess tent or as bush picnics for full-day drives. House drinks are included; premium wines, spirits and champagne carry a supplement.

Honeymoon
Honeymoon couples receive 50% off each night for the bride, together with the first night on Full Board or Game Package complimentary for the groom, which may be taken at any property in the itinerary. A minimum stay of six nights across the Lemala properties in Tanzania and Uganda is required, and a wedding certificate no more than 12 months old must be presented; the benefit applies to Full Board and Game Package rates only, with all other taxes, fees and activities charged as standard. Valid in June 2026 and from October 2026 to May 2027, and again in June 2027 and from October 2027 to May 2028, excluding 1 July to 30 September in each year and 20 December to 5 January.
Long stay
Stay five or more nights across the Lemala collection in Tanzania and Uganda and receive 22% off each night, rising to 25% off each night for stays of seven nights or more. Nights may be split across any combination of participating properties within the same booking, need not be consecutive, and there is no minimum stay at any one property; the discount applies to Full Board and Game Package rates only and not to park, camping or concession fees, activities or third-party services. Valid in June 2026 and from October 2026 to May 2027, and again in June 2027 and from October 2027 to May 2028, excluding 1 July to 30 September in each year and 20 December to 5 January.
Family
The first child aged 5 to 15 sharing with one or two adults stays free of charge on Full Board and Game Package, and this may be combined with the circuit discounts; where children share with only one adult, that adult is charged the single room rate. Second and third children sharing receive 50% off the adult sharing rate on Full Board and Game Package. A child must be at least 14 to occupy their own room, and children aged 4 and under are not recommended at the camp.
