The Details
Lemala Ndutu sits in the Ndutu region of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, on the border of the southern Serengeti. The setting is classic East African savannah, flat grassy plains broken by acacia woodland and seasonal marshes, and the camp occupies one of the finest positions in Ndutu to watch the great migration between December and March.
Tens of thousands of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle arrive in December to graze on the newly watered, mineral-rich short grass plains. By February the main calving season is under way and predator densities, particularly lion, cheetah and hyena, climb sharply as they follow the herds. The camp is the southern half of a two-location operation; its sister site, Lemala Mara, moves north to the Serengeti's Mara River area between June and October.
Accommodation
Nine tents are pitched on the edge of a permanent marsh, each furnished with two queen-size beds (triples on request) and en-suite bathrooms with flush toilets and bucket-fed hot showers. Two of the tents have two bedrooms, designed for friends and families travelling together. Power runs on 24-hour solar with a back-up generator, and charging points are provided in the tents, lounge and bar.
The communal mess tent has separate lounge and dining areas, decorated with leather sofas, rugs, chandeliers and side cabinets to soften the mobile-camp character. Evenings centre on the campfire, with pre-dinner drinks and canapes before dinner in the mess tent.
Game Drives
Game drives run in 4x4 vehicles with Lemala guides who know the Ndutu plains intimately. Full-day drives are encouraged during calving season, with picnic breakfasts and lunches prepared by the camp so guests can stay out following the herds and predator action. The nearest airstrip is Ndutu, a 20-minute transfer from camp.
Dining
Meals are freshly prepared in camp and served in the mess tent or as bush picnics for full-day drives. House drinks are included; premium wines, spirits and champagne carry a supplement.

Current offers
Special offer available.
Honeymoon
Honeymoon couples receive a 50 per cent reduction on each night for the bride, together with the groom's first night on a complimentary basis, on full board and game package rates. A minimum stay of six nights across the Tanzania and Uganda portfolio applies and a wedding certificate no more than 12 months old must be presented. Available in June 2026, from October 2026 to May 2027 and from 1 June 2027 to 31 May 2028, excluding 1 July to 30 September in each year and 20 December to 5 January; all other taxes, fees and activities are charged at the standard rate.
Long stay
Stays of five nights or more across the Lemala portfolio in Tanzania and Uganda attract a 22 per cent reduction on each night, rising to 25 per cent each night for stays of seven nights or more, on full board and game package rates. Nights may be split across any combination of participating properties on the same booking, need not be consecutive, and there is no minimum number of nights at any one camp. The reduction applies in June 2026, from October 2026 to May 2027 and from 1 June 2027 to 31 May 2028, excluding 1 July to 30 September in each year and 20 December to 5 January; it does not apply to park, camping or concession fees, activities or third-party services.
Family
The first child aged 5 to 15 years sharing a tent with one or two adults stays free of charge on both full board and game package basis, and this benefit combines with the long-stay reductions. Second and third children sharing with adults receive 50 per cent off the adult rate. Where children share with only one adult, that adult is charged the single rate, and the game package supplement applies to every guest aged 5 years and above; park, camping and concession fees remain payable.
