The Details
Leopard Mountain sits on a ridge inside Manyoni Private Game Reserve, one of the largest privately owned reserves in KwaZulu-Natal. The reserve covers around 58,000 acres of endangered species habitat and protects the Big Five alongside pangolin, cheetah, wild dog and black rhino.
The lodge is family-run and quietly five-star, built around calm, privacy and long views across the bushveld to the surrounding hills. It suits couples and small parties looking for an intimate safari rather than a big-lodge experience.
Accommodation
Nine luxury suites are set along the ridge, each positioned for privacy and open bushveld views. Every suite has a private plunge pool, an indoor-outdoor shower and generous glazing that pulls the reserve into the living space. Sunrises light the suites directly, and the outdoor areas are designed for slow mornings and long afternoons off drive.
Game Drives
Twice-daily game drives run in open safari vehicles with a maximum of six to seven guests per vehicle, keeping sightings uncrowded. Manyoni is a genuine Big Five reserve and a working conservation landscape, so drives regularly turn up black rhino, cheetah, wild dog and other endangered species alongside the classic Big Five.
Guests can add specialist experiences including rhino horn trimming, Temminck's ground pangolin tracking, animal tracking with the reserve team, Zulu cultural tours and a visit to the Zululand Rhino Orphanage.
Spa
The Africology Spa offers holistic treatments using natural, eco-friendly Africology products, drawing on indigenous plants and oils. Treatments are designed to complement the pace of a bush stay rather than run as a separate resort programme.
Dining
Meals lean on South African and broader African cooking, plated with an emphasis on regional produce and heritage dishes. The kitchen accommodates special dietary requirements on request, and dining locations move around the lodge from the main deck to bush settings depending on the day.
