The Details

Little Garonga sits inside the Greater Makalali Private Game Reserve in Limpopo, part of the broader Greater Kruger area. It is a small, quiet offshoot of the wider Garonga Safari Co. property, deliberately set apart from Garonga Safari Camp and MCH so guests get their own approach, arrival and communal spaces.

The camp is built around three thatched suites and a shared indoor and outdoor lounge, with a swimming pool that looks straight out over the bush. It is designed for couples, honeymooners and families who want privacy and space without giving up the intimacy of a small camp with a dedicated team of staff.

Accommodation

There are three suites in total. Chiltern and Buckingham are one-bedroom suites for couples, each with a king-size bed, small lounge, writing desk and en-suite bathroom with a tub and both indoor and outdoor showers. Each has a mini-bar, ceiling fan, air-conditioning and a private wooden deck with a hammock.

The Hambleden Suite is a two-bedroom private suite for a family of four, or a couple wanting extra space. Both bedrooms have four-poster beds. The main en-suite bathroom features a hand-beaten copper bathtub and indoor and outdoor showers. There is a central fireplace, mini-bar and air-conditioning, and the indoor living space opens onto a covered outdoor lounge and raised deck with a private plunge pool.

Game Drives

Twice-daily game drives are led by experienced guides across the Greater Makalali Private Game Reserve. Sightings run to the Big Five, elephant, leopard, rhino, buffalo and lion, alongside cheetah, spotted hyena, wild dog, hippo, crocodile and a wide range of plains game and birdlife. Bush walks can be arranged on request.

Dining

Resident chefs cook a mix of traditional South African dishes and international plates, with meals customised to guest preferences. Expect indulgent breakfast spreads after the morning drive, light lunches, afternoon tea and multi-course dinners. Dining can move between the indoor space, the outdoor lounge and the boma.
