The Details
The terrain features a series of permanent lagoons fed by seasonal channels, connecting vast grassy floodplains and islands of riverine woodland. This diverse landscape supports a wide array of wildlife, ensuring guests experience an engaging and immersive safari adventure.
Maxa Safari Camp’s distinctive layout includes a spacious lounge and dining area with freeform structures under light canvas roofs, partially enclosed by traditional clay walls. The camp’s "courtyard" is set between the lounge and dining spaces on white sand, adorned with picnic-style tables. This charming setup is perfect for enjoying meals in the refreshing shade or beneath the flickering stars.
Guests can savor freshly baked bread and muffins from Maxa’s wood-fired oven, which also produces other delectable meals crafted by the camp chef.
At the edge of the camp, overlooking the lagoon amidst the riverine forest, stands a cluster of ebony trees that create a natural enclosure. Here, a Sala features a cozy daybed, while an elevated deck offers a suspended cargo net hammock — a serene spot for guests to take in the surrounding wildlife and scenery.
With a capacity for up to 12 guests, the tented accommodations are both functional and comfortable. There are four well-crafted stretch canvas tents situated on elevated decks, each featuring an ensuite indoor bathroom and a complete outdoor open-air bathroom experience. The Maxa family tent includes two bedrooms with a shared ensuite bathroom and an outdoor bathing facility, making it ideal for families.

"I cannot recommend Anja Meyer at Safari.com enough. This is our 3rd trip in 2 years that we have planned with Anja and we cannot imagine using any other travel planner. As travelers who deliberately seek experiences that go beyond the expected, and a bit of luxury that feels authentic, every single trip that we have booked with Anya has been a complex, multi country itinerary- we are definitely not easy to plan for. What sets Anja apart from other travel planners (and we have used several planners from top agencies) is her ability to partner with us and truly understand our preferences, pace and unspoken/ unwritten requirements. We would be remiss if we didn't mention her work ethic - she is incredibly responsive despite major time differences (I don't think she sleeps :) ). The results are always extraordinary journeys that feel very tailored to us. This most recent trip planned with Anja will take us across Namibia, Botswana and Mauritius - we can't wait!!"
