Simbavati Trails Camp is Simbavati's luxury-but-back-to-basics walking trails camp.
Located in a secluded area of the world-renowned Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, this camp is set within an 11,000-hectare wilderness area that forms part of the Greater Kruger National Park.
Days start with a 3- to 4-hour walk at a leisurely pace with an armed specialist guide. Experiencing the bush on foot offers an entirely different perspective compared to being in a safari vehicle. You'll hear more, smell more, and gradually train your eyes to notice subtle details around you. Snack and drink breaks keep your energy up before a delicious brunch is served back at camp.
After some personal downtime, which can be spent snoozing or reading outside your tent, a savory and sweet ‘tea’ is prepared. This is followed by a 2- to 3-hour walk in the late afternoon, culminating at a viewpoint to soak in a breathtaking African sunset. A short drive will then take you back to camp, where you can freshen up before enjoying dinner around the campfire.

Mel has been exceptional in helping us…
Mel has been exceptional in helping us book our trip to South Africa. She gave me insight about what to do and where to go and put up with my 1000 changes to the trip. I highly recommend working with her and I cannot wait to make it to the actual trip. Im so excited!

Mel was fantastic but do your research!
Mel from Safari.com went above and beyond to ensure that our entire trip went smoothly. We visited both South Africa and Zimbabwe. We had a few hiccups along the way, as we were initially assigned another agent (who no longer works there) and unfortunately gave us high expectations and promises that weren’t fulfilled. She promised us a Ngala / Sabi safari type of experience in South Africa but booked us a lodge called Kusudalweni (which was no where near that type of experience! The service, food, location, and planned activities were all beyond disappointing. Would definitely avoid this place!!). Mel was not familiar with this lodge and unfortunately just followed along the previous agent. Mel tried her best to arrange another lodge and offer us other game drives but unfortunately the lodge was extremely difficult to deal with. Although, she organised the lodge in Zimbabwe and that was incredible! She was extremely responsive throughout our entire trip and ensured to contact our hotels, guides, etc. anytime we had a problem, it was such a relief to not have to worry about any of the hassle while we were there. My biggest recommendation is making sure to do your research about the lodges / hotels that are offered and see if they align with the type of “luxury” experience you are expecting. Mel was definitely great at ensuring we knew exactly what we were getting and I would definitely recommend requesting her specifically. Mel deserves a 5 star rating but unfortunately, due to the issues we had with the previous agent at this company, I had to give it an overall 4 star review.
