The Details
Location
Mwiba Plains sits within the Greater Mwiba Protected Wildlife Area, an exclusive-use reserve on the southern edge of the greater Serengeti ecosystem. This is the calving ground of the Great Migration, where wildebeest and zebra gather in vast numbers from roughly January to March and the predators follow close behind.
The closest airstrip is Mwiba's private airstrip, around a one-hour game drive from camp, served by scheduled local carriers. A helipad is available by prior arrangement. Arrival and departure transfers are included.
Rooms
The camp has ten tented rooms and one family unit, generously spaced across the grasslands. Each tent has canvas walls that open onto the plains, rich textiles, king or twin bed configurations, en suite bathrooms with rainfall showers, twin vanities, dressing areas, mosquito nets, safes and a gym-in-a-basket. Laundry service is available.
The family unit has two bedrooms and two bathrooms and takes two adults plus two children under 16. Standard tented rooms can take up to three guests. Two tented rooms and the family unit can be reserved together as a private exclusive-use section within the wider camp.
Dining
Meals are taken in the private lounge and dining area or al fresco under the trees. Picnic lunches out on the plains and sundowners at scenic spots are part of the usual rhythm, and all meals and drinks are included.
Activities
Each booking comes with a private vehicle and guide, so game drives run to your own schedule rather than a fixed camp timetable. Drives cover the calving plains and the predators that work them, including lion, cheetah, leopard and hyena. After-dark game drives are offered, along with cultural visits to the communities whose land this is. Wi-Fi is available in the main areas and rooms, though speeds vary.
