This short trip is tailored for those who are short of time or those looking for a great post-trip extension after a wildlife safari in Kenya, Tanzania or South Africa.
Enjoy deeply moving experiences when you come face-to-face with endangered mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. This safari includes flights over the beautiful highlands of Uganda, boasting incredible rugged terrains and an opportunity to take a community walk and interact with the locals.
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be met by our representative, who will transfer you to a hotel in Entebbe. We have several optional activities around Entebbe that you can engage in, depending on your flight arrival time. These include a day trip to Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary, birding at the botanical gardens, and for keen birders, a visit to Mabamba Swamp to catch sight of the rare shoebill and plenty of other bird species is a must-see.
Enjoy an early breakfast and transfer to the airport for your domestic flight to Kisoro. The flight time is approximately one hour. On your arrival in Kisoro, you will be welcomed by an expert guide and head for a community tour that includes a visit to a coffee farm. At the coffee farm, you will have the opportunity to learn about the sustainable farming practices in the Virunga Massif, which is a great way to promote social change through ecotourism. After the tour, you will transfer to the Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge, arriving in time for lunch and enjoying panoramic views of the Bwindi Forest.
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a recently proclaimed World Heritage site, is one of the most biologically diverse areas on earth. Its unique, precious flora sustains roughly half of the world population of mountain gorillas – believed to number just 600. There’s also a substantial chimpanzee population, and research shows that Bwindi is the only forest in Africa in which these two apes live together.
Following an early breakfast at the lodge, you will drive to the park headquarters for a morning briefing from the rangers before you enter the gorilla sanctuary. Throughout the trek, you will be accompanied by experienced guides and trackers who will offer insightful information about the endangered mountain gorillas. Once you have found the gorillas, you will be allowed to spend one hour observing them from a 10-meter distance. The thrill of your encounter will erase the difficulties of the potentially strenuous trek.
Each encounter is different and has its own rewards, but you are likely to enjoy the close view of adults feeding, grooming, and resting, while the youngsters frolic and swing from vines in a delightfully playful display. After tracking, transfer back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
After an early breakfast, depart Bwindi for Kisoro Airstrip for your scheduled flight back to Entebbe International Airport.

Mel has been exceptional in helping us…
Mel has been exceptional in helping us book our trip to South Africa. She gave me insight about what to do and where to go and put up with my 1000 changes to the trip. I highly recommend working with her and I cannot wait to make it to the actual trip. Im so excited!

Mel was fantastic but do your research!
Mel from Safari.com went above and beyond to ensure that our entire trip went smoothly. We visited both South Africa and Zimbabwe. We had a few hiccups along the way, as we were initially assigned another agent (who no longer works there) and unfortunately gave us high expectations and promises that weren’t fulfilled. She promised us a Ngala / Sabi safari type of experience in South Africa but booked us a lodge called Kusudalweni (which was no where near that type of experience! The service, food, location, and planned activities were all beyond disappointing. Would definitely avoid this place!!). Mel was not familiar with this lodge and unfortunately just followed along the previous agent. Mel tried her best to arrange another lodge and offer us other game drives but unfortunately the lodge was extremely difficult to deal with. Although, she organised the lodge in Zimbabwe and that was incredible! She was extremely responsive throughout our entire trip and ensured to contact our hotels, guides, etc. anytime we had a problem, it was such a relief to not have to worry about any of the hassle while we were there. My biggest recommendation is making sure to do your research about the lodges / hotels that are offered and see if they align with the type of “luxury” experience you are expecting. Mel was definitely great at ensuring we knew exactly what we were getting and I would definitely recommend requesting her specifically. Mel deserves a 5 star rating but unfortunately, due to the issues we had with the previous agent at this company, I had to give it an overall 4 star review.
