Embark on a 10-day photographic journey through Botswana's diverse landscapes, from the Chobe River's vibrant wildlife to the Okavango Delta's pristine waterways and the Central Kalahari's unique species.
Upon arrival at Kasane International Airport, you’ll be met by a Pangolin Photo Safaris representative at The Pangolin Chobe Hotel, before heading to The Pangolin Voyager, which is moored on the Namibian side of the river. You will exit Botswana and enter Namibia — a straightforward, simple, yet unforgettable border experience.
With only five cabins, the Pangolin Voyager mirrors the style of the Okavango Delta Camp and will be exclusively reserved for your group during the first week of your safari. While on board, the Pangolin Voyager will be moored at three different locations along the Chobe River. Eight-seater photo boats, stationed alongside the houseboat, will be used for your morning and afternoon excursions on the river. Depending on the season, you may encounter incredible birdlife, elephants, buffalo, and hippos, along with resident crocodiles and hippos.
Between game-viewing activities, there will be hosted image review and group editing sessions. To get the most out of these sessions, please bring a laptop with the latest version of your editing software installed and updated. The recommended software is Adobe Lightroom.
After breakfast, journey back to Botswana for a scenic charter flight into the heart of the Okavango Delta. Upon arrival, you’ll check into the Pangolin Photo Camp, a private and intimate bush experience.
The camp surrenders unnecessary and frivolous luxuries in exchange for a classic tented camp focussing on great photo opportunities and exclusive space to explore and photograph. Enjoy the freedom to explore, with off-roading, night drive and potential astrophotography sessions.
You will also have the opportunity to explore the Okavango Delta by air with a 30-minute helicopter flight making for stunning aerial photography. The helicopter fly with the doors off for an easier photography experience
On your final morning at Pangolin Photo Camp, you’ll make a gradual journey toward the airstrip, taking advantage of the photographic opportunities along the way. From there, you’ll board a charter flight bound for your next destination: the Central Kalahari. This region offers a more tranquil pace and serves as a perfect contrast to the Chobe and Delta, rounding out your safari experience.
As a semi-arid desert, the Central Kalahari attracts wildlife to its scarce water sources, making it an excellent location for hide-based photography. Dinaka’s sunken hide provides a unique, ground-level vantage point for capturing animals up close. Located on a private reserve that borders the expansive Central Kalahari Game Reserve, this area offers a dramatically different landscape—denser, thornier vegetation and a distinct array of wildlife, including oryx, springbok, brown hyena, black-maned lions, jackals, cheetahs, and wild dogs.
A highlight of your stay is a guided bush walk with local Bushman guides, where you'll gain insight into their traditional way of life and survival techniques in what appears to be a harsh environment. The experience typically concludes with a fire-making demonstration and storytelling at sunset.
If the skies are clear, the Kalahari night presents a spectacular opportunity for astrophotography. Capture the stars or experiment with star trails in one of the most awe-inspiring skies in Africa.
On your final day, you'll travel to Maun Airport, where you'll say goodbye to your fellow photographers and your host.
However, your safari experience does not have to end there. You can easily extend your journey and enjoy some time exploring the vibrant charm of the Mother City at the conclusion of your adventure - Ask your expert for more details!
