Why, when, and where.
WHY
Located on Namibia's central coast is the country's main port town, Walvis Bay. It offers a unique charm, attracting thousands of migratory birds in southern Africa. Its home to large flocks of flamingos and pelicans.
Walvis Bay is an excellent starting point to explore other attractions of the Namibian coast, such as Pelican Point, Swakopmund and the Skeleton Coast.
WHEN
The best time to visit Walvis Bay, depends on the activities and experiences you are interested in.
From May to October, winter season, it is the best time for whale watching. The air is cooler, more comfortable and the prime-time for desert based activities, such as dune boarding and quad biking. This season is also perfect for water sports a consistent winds are generally found between March and November.
The summer season, November to April, normally has warmer daytime temperatures, landscapes are greener and is the perfect time for bird watching.
WHERE
As Walvis Bay is the main port town of Namibia, it also provides diverse accommodation to cater for a variety of travelers. It offers a harmonious blend of marine and desert experiences, from luxury waterfront hotels to more budget-friendly guesthouses and Bed and Breakfasts.
