Child Policy
Children of all ages are welcome at the lodge. Child rates apply.
Two adults and two children can share a Family Suite, or alternatively, a maximum of 8 people can stay in the River House Villa.
Children under 5 years old are not permitted on safari activities unless a private vehicle is booked at an additional fee.
Children over the age of 6 years are permitted on safari activities and river cruises at the discretion of the lodge manager.
Childminding services are available but must be pre-booked.
The Detail
Matetsi River Lodge boasts 18 beautifully appointed suites that offer guests privacy and spectacular views of the Zambezi River.
Each Suite is contemporary in design, featuring natural tones and abstract artwork. They offer twin beds that can be converted into doubles, en-suite bathrooms with a bathtub, indoor and outdoor showers, mosquito netting, indoor lounge areas, in-room safes, minibars, and private verandahs complete with comfortable couches and plunge pools.
The lodge includes two Family Suites featuring two en-suite bedrooms connected by a passageway.
The Matetsi River House is an exclusive-use villa that accommodates families and groups of up to 8 people in four bedrooms.
With three exclusive guest areas, the facilities at Matetsi include a boma, fitness center, safari shop, wine cellar, massage sala, swimming pool, conference center, and various dining areas.
The conservancy surrounding Matetsi River Lodge is home to an abundance of wildlife, including large herds of elephants and buffalo, a variety of antelopes, hippos, lions, leopards, wild dogs, hyenas, and 366 bird species.
Activities offered at the lodge include game drives, walking safaris, birdwatching, canoeing, boating excursions, and fishing. Excursions to Victoria Falls can also be easily arranged by the lodge.
Matetsi River Lodge is ideal for solo explorers, couples, and families looking to visit Victoria Falls and experience a luxury safari.
Price Includes
Accommodation, three meals daily, the house selection of non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages, refreshments on game drives, laundry, safari activities (including game drives, birdwatching, a cruise on the Zambezi River, amateur fishing, and canoeing), as well as emergency medical evacuation insurance.
Rate Excludes
Flights, transfers, premium brand beverages, additional excursions, gratuities, park fees, and items of a personal nature.

Stay & Pay
Stay three nights and pay for two, available for stays from 1 to 15 December 2026 and from 8 January to 31 March 2027. A Stay 4, Pay 3 offer also applies in High and Mid Season, valid 1 to 30 September 2026, 1 October to 15 December 2026, 16 December 2026 to 7 January 2027 and 8 January to 31 March 2027. Both offers exclude the Peak Season of 1 July to 31 August 2026, exclude the helicopter experience and do not apply to the River House or River Family Suites.
Last minute
African residents booking within 30 days to 72 hours of travel receive a reduced River Suite rate, subject to availability and a minimum stay of two nights. Valid 1 to 30 September 2026, 1 October to 15 December 2026 and 8 January to 31 March 2027, and not combinable with other resident offers.
Long stay
Stay four nights or more and receive a complimentary one-way scenic helicopter flight between Victoria Falls town and Matetsi, taking in the Falls, the Zambezi River and the Matetsi Private Game Reserve, with park fees and the necessary one-way road transfer included; one flight per booking per stay. Alternatively, the seven-night Matetsi Retreat offers seven nights for the price of five and includes one complimentary 60-minute massage per person, though not the helicopter flight. Both run 1 to 30 September 2026, 1 October to 15 December 2026, 16 December 2026 to 7 January 2027 and 8 January to 31 March 2027, exclude Peak Season and the River House and River Family Suites, and cannot be combined with each other. African residents staying four nights or more instead receive a further 10 per cent off resident rates in the same High and Mid Season windows, excluding the River House.
Family
Children aged five and under stay free of charge when sharing existing bedding with one or two adults, subject to cot availability. Children from six to 16 years sharing with one or two adults are charged at 50 per cent of the adult rate, and the mandatory conservation contribution applies per child per night.

Available year-round (1 April 2026 – 31 March 2027), one partner pays the full accommodation rate while the other partner pays 50% of the accommodation rate for the entire stay. Children of all ages may stay. Standard game-drive minimum is 6 (6–12 at guide's discretion); walking safaris are 16+. Children of any age may join game drives when a Private Vehicle is booked — sighting access remains at guides' discretion based on the behaviour of child and animals. The Family Suite product (2 River Family Suites: suite with adjoining children's room, max 2 adults + 2 children up to age 16) includes a private 4x4 vehicle and one private boat cruise, effectively unlocking drives for younger kids. The River House Private Villa (1 unit, 4 ensuite rooms, max 8 guests) includes private transfers, private Tour of the Falls, private dining, private 4x4 vehicle, one private boat cruise and a dedicated team. Matetsi Cubs provides fun activities for junior guests during their stay. Triple rooms accept max 2 adults + 1 child or 1 adult + 2 children (not 3 adults). Only 5 extra beds across the lodge per night. Single supplement charged when an adult shares with an infant. Honeymoon, Stay-Pay, Solo Safari and Long Stay offers do not apply to Family Suites or the River House Villa.
