The Details
Baobab Ridge sits within the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve, part of the Greater Kruger National Park. Because the Klaserie has no fences with Kruger, guests get the full Kruger Park experience from open game-viewing vehicles, with the additional benefit of the lower vehicle density and off-road access of a private reserve. The neighbouring Timbavati Private Nature Reserve is known for the same calibre of game viewing.
The lodge is small, intimate and family-run, with a deliberately relaxed feel. The main lodge sits within easy walking distance of the suites and houses a bar and lounge, a small TV room with satellite television and DVD, free WiFi, outdoor terraces, guest bathrooms, a large dining room and an office. Outside there is an open-air boma with a fireplace and a swimming pool overlooking the surrounding bush and a small waterhole.
The main lodge is wheelchair-accessible and the property is fully fenced from larger wildlife, which makes it a practical choice for families and guests with reduced mobility.
Accommodation
Seven private suites accommodate a maximum of 16 guests. The layout includes suites suitable for couples and a family suite arrangement that works for parents travelling with children. Suites have private bathrooms and outdoor areas, and in-suite treatments such as private massages can be arranged.
Game Drives
Game drives run twice a day in open safari vehicles with experienced guides. The Klaserie's open boundary with Kruger and its neighbouring private reserves gives the lodge access to a large traversing area with strong Big Five populations. Guides supplement drives with tracking, bush knowledge and interpretation of smaller wildlife and signs.
