You’re about to fall in love… because Cape Town really has it all: beaches, mountains, gardens, wildlife and wine farms. It’s a heady mix of creativity, cuisine and cultures – so fasten your seatbelts and let’s go!
To start with, there’s the natural wonder that is Table Mountain. This iconic flat-topped mountain can be explored on foot (various routes take between two and six hours to reach to top) or by cable car. Be sure to also wander through the historic Company’s Gardens, or Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens at the foot of the mountain and Green Point Park. And make like the locals who take full advantage of the abundant outdoor space: learn to surf or kitesurf; go hiking or mountain biking on one of the many trails dotted around the city and surrounds. And if adrenaline is your thing, abseil off the top of Table Mountain or tandem paraglide off Lion’s Head.
There’s a trendy urban edge to Cape Town, too: fine dining that rivals the world’s best restaurants, excellent art galleries and hip bars. The city is home to some of Africa's top innovative artists and designers – if you happen to be visiting on the first Thursday of every month, don’t miss First Thursdays when the inner city’s abuzz with activity as various galleries, stores and eateries stay open until 9 pm.
Don’t even get us started on the beaches (the water is somewhat warmer on the False Bay side). Cape Town boasts some of the most picture-perfect beaches in the world. From Bakoven to Blouberg and Clifton to Camps Bay, there won’t be an inch of sand you wouldn't want to stretch out on.
But you’ll have to drag yourself off the beach as no visit is complete without at least one day exploring a wine farm or three. There are some great ones in
