The Detail
Mont Rochelle is a magnificent 26-bedroom hotel and vineyard in the heart of the renowned Franschhoek Valley, known as one of the world's finest wine and cuisine destinations, and as South Africa's food and wine capital.
The estate is approximately 100 acres in size and features two restaurants, a cozy bar, a spa, a gym, a heated outdoor pool, vineyards, and a wine cellar.
The hotel is committed to environmental sustainability and sources fresh, local produce to prepare inspiring cuisine.
The 26 rooms and suites comprise five different room types, each boasting a king-size bed, en-suite bathroom, luxury amenities, a writing desk, and an outside patio or balcony that overlooks the valley or vineyard.
Room Types
There are four Shiraz Rooms with king-size beds, all featuring courtyard or valley views.
There are six Merlot Rooms, which are larger than the Shiraz Rooms, with king-size beds and valley views.
The six Cabernet Rooms are located in the Vineyard Wing and include private terraces overlooking the valley.
There are four spacious Pinotage Suites, located in both the Manor House and Garden House, each featuring a separate lounge and fantastic views.
The two largest rooms in the hotel are the Cap Classique Suites, which feature a separate lounge area, a private terrace, and their own plunge pool. Both suites are located in the Vineyard Wing.
Manor House
The Manor House is a luxury villa located a short walk from the main hotel and just a short distance from the Country Kitchen. The perfect option for a family group or guests seeking a more private getaway, the Manor House features four beautifully appointed suites, a kitchen, lounge, two swimming pools, and a gym. The Manor House is available for exclusive hire all year round and can accommodate up to eight guests sharing, plus a bunk room for up to six children.
Dining
There are two restaurants at Mont Rochelle. The Country Kitchen connects to the wine cellar and is the ideal place for a light lunch in the sunshine. The main restaurant, Miko, offers fantastic gourmet meals that blend international dishes with healthy South African cuisine.
The hotel bar is the best place to start your evening, offering a selection of refreshing cocktails that you can enjoy on the terrace overlooking the vineyards—an ideal spot to take in the sunset.
Activities
A favorite activity for many guests is picnicking on the estate. The kitchen can arrange a well-stocked picnic basket, complete with a chilled bottle of wine, to enjoy while taking in the breathtaking views of the vineyards and rolling valley.
