The Detail
The 69,000-acre private Chitabe Concession is situated in the southeast of the Okavango Delta. It is characterized by its grassy floodplains, which separate the channel from acacia and mopane woodland. The western half of the concession is bordered by the Santantadibe River, where a variety of typical Okavango habitats ensure a year-round variety of game viewing and birding experiences.
The camp boasts eight Meru-style tents, which are built on elevated wooden decks among the trees. Each tent features twin beds draped with mosquito netting, an en-suite bathroom with double vanities, indoor and outdoor showers, a pedestal fan, a writing desk, a sitting area, and a deck with loungers. One of the tents includes a king-size bed.
The camp facilities include a dining area, bar, lounge area, swimming pool, and a raised deck offering spectacular views across the floodplain.
Game drives reveal the rich wildlife of the area, from predators to prey. Day and night game drives are conducted in open 4x4 Land Rovers and led by professional guides.
Guided walking safaris give visitors the opportunity to see animals on foot as well as the smaller, wondrous creatures of the African bush. Walking safaris are also an excellent way to observe the diverse bird species living on the concession. This activity is dependent on the availability of guides.
The diversity of environments, including a mix of Okavango and Kalahari habitats, makes Chitabe unique. This diversity supports good concentrations of all the larger predators – lion, leopard, spotted hyena, cheetah, and wild dog – as well as herbivores like giraffe, buffalo, lechwe, tsessebe, impala, and elephant.
Chitabe Camp is ideal for solo explorers, couples, and families looking for a luxurious tented safari experience.

"Booked an 11-day tour starting and finishing in Johannesburg and including Victoria Falls, Chobe and the Okavango Delta. The service from Cearl was very professional with numerous options discussed before settling on the final version. Prices seemed to be very reasonable."
