Location

Fairlight Beach House sits on the corner of Margaret Bacon Avenue and South Beach Road in Umdloti, a seaside village on the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast. The property is a few steps from the beach and around ten minutes by road from King Shaka International Airport and uMhlanga, making it equally suited to business travellers, families and visitors in transit.

Originally a homestead built in the early 1900s, the house is owned by the Deeb family and retains the character of a traditional coastal home, with a broad verandah, pool deck and direct outlook over the Indian Ocean.

Accommodation

The guest house offers nine room types. Standard doubles Kevin and Tracy provide a side sea view or garden outlook with en-suite bathrooms. Luxury rooms Michele, Roxanne, Candace and Peter have full sea views with private decks and en-suite showers. Two luxury triple rooms, David with a full sea view and Colin with a side sea view, sleep up to three guests. The Louise honeymoon suite has a panoramic sea view, private entrance, balcony and a full en-suite bathroom.

Coral Sands is a separate two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment with a fully equipped kitchen, open-plan living area and sea-facing deck, sleeping up to five guests. All rooms include king or twin beds, air conditioning, ceiling fans, DStv flat-screen TVs with Netflix, a hospitality tray, safe, secure parking and complimentary Wi-Fi.

Dining

Breakfast is served on the deck above the pool, overlooking the ocean. Rates are bed and breakfast throughout. A choice of restaurants in Umdloti village sits within easy walking distance for lunch and dinner.

Activities

The beach is on the doorstep, with surfing and seasonal whale watching directly from the property. Nearby activities include deep-sea and fly fishing, shark cage diving, marine adventures, golf, helicopter rides, cultural and battlefield tours, bird watching and general sightseeing along the North Coast. Big Five game reserves in northern KwaZulu-Natal are within driving distance for day trips.
