The Details

Feline Fields Vintage Camp sits on the banks of the Khwai River, on the eastern edge of the Okavango Delta. The Khwai concession is one of the most prolific wildlife regions in Botswana, with large herds of elephant and buffalo, resident prides of lion, leopard along the riverine treeline and plentiful plains game.

The camp is styled on the Victorian campaign era, with canvas tents, cane furniture, butler trays and soft scatter rugs. It is a private, off-grid retreat with its own staff team, suited to individual travellers, couples, families and exclusive-use groups who want an unplugged safari with old-world character.

Accommodation

The camp has eight bell tents, each with a king or twin bed, down duvets, feather pillows, rugs, cane furniture and Victoriana touches. Every tent has an en-suite bathroom with a basin, flushing toilet and a large bucket shower filled with warm water on request. A small wooden deck in front holds two safari chairs and a basin amenity station refilled with warm water each morning.

Two family tents are available, each with two interleading bedrooms sharing a bathroom, one with a king bed and one with twin beds. Additional family tents can be configured for exclusive-use groups. The lounge and dining tents overlook the Khwai River and are furnished with folding campaign chairs, day beds and cushioned scatter seating.

Game Drives

Early morning and afternoon game drives run daily along the Khwai River and through the surrounding concession. Guides are drawn from the region and the area is known for high concentrations of lion and leopard, alongside large elephant and buffalo herds. Walking safaris with armed guides are offered for guests who want to explore on foot, with a focus on the smaller plants, tracks and details overlooked from a vehicle.

Mokoro trips on the perennial channels of the Delta are a signature activity, with consistent water levels throughout the year. Helicopter safaris can be arranged for an aerial perspective over the Delta and access to areas that cannot be reached by vehicle. Fishing on the Khwai River is offered on a catch-and-release basis for bream, barbel and tiger fish, with rods and tackle provided.

Spa

The wellness tent offers full-body massages and personal treatments in a quiet corner of the camp. An authentic wooden hot tub, known as the love puddle, looks out over the riverine bush and is used for soaking between drives or as part of a longer spa session.

Dining

Meals are served in the lounge and dining tents overlooking the Khwai River, with décor that blends campaign-era safari style and a hint of Moroccan colour. The kitchen produces flavourful bush cooking served around shared tables, with the day's adventures recounted over dinner.
