"We had the best time at Kapama Buffalo Camp! The staff and service was impeccable. We were lucky to have Joe and Foster as our game ride driver and spotter, they really made our drives a once in a lifetime experience! We will recommend Buffalo Camp to all of our friends!"
"From the moment we arrived we felt like royalty, our every need was catered for by the friendliest of staff.Jeffrey and David organised the most amazing safari experience, we not only saw the big 5, we saw them in action, Leopards chasing prey, the pride of lions going out on a hunt, and grandpa devouring his supper, the herd of elephants crashing through the bush and cheetahs on the move. The food was good too, and nothing beats an ice cold gin and tonic served from the back of the cruiser in the middle of the bush whilst watching the sun set."

"Buffalo Safari Camp was wonderful. The staff were so friendly and the atmosphere at the lodge was great. Accommodation, food and game rangers were all of good quality. We loved our stay."

"The three days at Camp Kapama were beyond spectacular. Absolutely the highlight of our trip to South Africa, Botswana, and Zimbabwe. We saw animals of every type and so close to our vehicle; right in the center of a herd of 33 elephants, watching lions have breakfast, so many memories. Ranger Joe and Tracker Foster were the best and I truly felt they were there just for me! The "tent" was better than the hotels and the staff was 5 star. i cannot recommend them enough. They are so knowledgeable but don't overload you with facts, great sense of humor, personable, on and on.... Go in July for no bugs and no rain."
"Buffalo camp was amazing. We stayed there for a week. We saw all the Big 5 and more! The staff was attentive but not intrusive. Every request was made by staff and rangers. Our room was beautiful with comfortable beds and even a hot water bottle tucked under the duvet every night. Every small detail was given attention. We had the entire camp due to a large group. The spa is beautiful. This is a first rate experience.... words cannot describe our gratitude to the Kapama staff to making our trip a trip of a lifetime!"
"We stayed at the Buffolo Camp for 4 nights just after Easter. From the warm welcome by guide Jeffrey who was waiting for us at the airport, to our sad departure again with Jeffrey, our stay was absolutely delightful. This was our first African Safari and it delivered in every sense. The food was great and plentiful, the tents comfortable, the staff attentive and considerate. But my BIG credit has to goes to our guide Jeffrey. Without his patience, experience and humour (he pulled my leg unmercifully) I'm sure we wouldn't have seen such a large number of animals, learned so much and laughed so much while doing it. His company at dinner each night was a huge plus. What more can I say....magical memories."
"As a relatively experienced "game lodger" I must recommend Kapama Buffalo Camp ! For me the food is as important as the game viewing... maybe my Belgian roots... I have lived in Johannesburg for 23 years and take business and family visitors and also myself to mostly private game lodges in South Africa. Dinner and lunch at Kapama was fantastic and sophisticated.. Breakfast was also really good but can improve - maybe to serve some freshly bakes different breads... not only the SA toast .... and Continental Europeans don't eat eggs every morning unlike our Anglo-Saxon brothers.... the game viewing was fantastic ... lions having dinner..... the works ... spotted the big four and looked hard for the elusive leopard ...rooms are really fantastic with each room having their own Wi-Fi.... superb !! staff excellent - so I'd give it a 8.5 to 9/10 - one other matter (and the lodge can do nothing about it ) is the relatively close proximity to the main road (and railway) and if the wind blows the wrong way you can hear traffic rushing by... but then again totally out of the lodge's control !! Well done to Kapama team there ! The Swedes loved and raved about it !"
"This is officially the closest I've been to the wild, and I live in Africa. Kamapa’s entrance gate is 9 meters from the Hoedspruit Airport exit gate. Each new arrival gets a single ranger to greet them at the airport and get them back to camp, and you then have that ranger (and his tracker) assigned to you throughout your stay. You therefore get to know each other during the safaris, and are able to create a great friendship! We stayed at the Buffalo Camp, an tented lodge where you stay in a very exclusive tent, and no luxuries are spared. This camp hosts only about 20 people, and you get to know fellow travelers at breakfast, lunch and dinner. You have a mini bar should you wish to use it, a Nespresso machine, air-conditioning, and the most beautiful views from your bed, bath and shower. The camp facilities include a pool, boma where you can have dinner around a camp fire, as well as a bar to relax at. The menu is a bit limited, but one must take into consideration that this is quite some driving distance to get fresh produce. And what I mean by limited does not mean that the choice of 3 meals they give you is not very tasty – if anything, I went back for seconds at every buffet offered! The game rangers and tracker make or break the game drives. You have 2 drives each day – on in the morning before breakfast and one at night. A huge thanks to Joe van Rensburg and Foster for showing us ab absolutely wonderful time! They had 6 people to cater for – 3 South Africans, one Brit and a honeymoon couple from Switzerland who could, for all practical purposes, not really understand English, but still managed to entertain everyone! A coffee and rusks break in the mornings, and sun-downers at night, made for great breaks to talk to the other travelers and get to know them as well. We, within 48 house, saw everything Kamapa had to offer except the leopard. The game rangers are in constant contact with each other, and we once almost missed dinner (due to our own request) because of Joe’s dedication to give us the best possible experience. If I as a South African enjoyed it this much, I reckon the foreigners cannot afford to miss this. We went to the Kruger after we were here, which we also enjoyed, but it was a completely different experience. This was truly something magical which I can easily promote to anyone, local and foreign, to put on their ‘must see’ list."
"To propose to your future wife needs to be a special occasion and needs to be kept a real secret until its official. Kapama and their staff exceeded all expectations in personal attention and the willingness to help make our dreams come true. The camps are a real African bush experience but at the same time affords you the luxury of home comforts plus extra attention to detail. You feel like you are important and that you matter which is rare!"

"My daughter Liz and I had an absolutely wonderful time. Our guide, Tuwan Steyne was the best and he was so accommodating with his time. His knowledge of the environment and the animals was as good as it gets. And, our tracker Benny was also wonderful. Liz and I view Tuwan as a lifetime friend. The staff too was great. Clair and Lysle were fun, hospitable and very helpful. We will definitely put this on our list of "do overs."Many thanks to all the Kapama folks who made our visit special.Barb Guibord and Liz Homsy"

"We visited Kapama Game Reserve in Sept, our second visit to this fantastic reserve. This time we stayed at the smaller Buffalo Camp and we were not disappointed. Everything about this camp was great. The team at Buffalo are extremely professional and certainly customer focused. Joe our ranger and Foster our tracker were excellent. Both are extremely knowledgeable but also fun, so our game drives and walk were fantastic. Whatever you do, don't miss a game drive, you will regret it! The game viewing and bird watching were brilliant. The camp is managed by Claire who looked after us and ensured that our stay was so enjoyable."
"This camp is ridiculously nice! The rooms you stay in are technically tents but they're small buildings on stilts...think the huts in the ocean in Bali, etc. These tents have the most comfortable beds in Africa (but Americans still will find it a long way from a Denver Mattress) and a soaking tub in the room to get rid of the grime of the game drives. The shaded decks off of your room that overlook the riverbed are perfect for napping and checking out wildlife. There is also a Nespresso machine!!!! In the bush!!! We went in mid March and it was about 30 Celsius (90-ish Fahrenheit) during the day. I did not buy safari gear and instead wore jeans, a cameo, lightweight cardigan and loafers that were headed for the trash (you only get out of the truck to have a drink or snack so hiking boots are not necessary) on the evening drive. In the a.m. I wore the same but with a sweatshirt instead. The dinners and lunches I was fine with a cotton sundress and flip flops. This camp does not cram you onto the trucks with 15 of your closest friends but instead makes smaller groups for a better experience. Saw more animals than I thought possible and the staff were more than accommodating, Loved it!!"
"We're a couple from Sydney Australia who honeymooned at Buffalo Camp for three nights in late January 2014. This place is terrific and was much more than we had expected! The 'tents' don't feel like tents at all - just beautiful inside. Only downside (unavoidable) is monkeys on the roof making noise at night. The food is very impressive and there's plenty of choice too. The service was very good - we particularly liked Sandy and Jabu. Our game drives were great. Colin is very knowledgeable and likable. What a gentlemen is Herbert! We saw all the animals we wanted to except for a leopard. The Camp is great value for money. We would recommend it to anyone."
"When we arrived, we were warmly welcomed on a cold night with hot towels and hot chocolate for my shivering son, which set the tone for our stay. The accommodation is described as a luxury tented camp, but it really was so much more than that. The tents were spacious and beautifully designed, with views of the bush from all around the tent, including the shower! Our kids were delighted that despite the fact we were in the middle of the bush there was decent wifi. Highlights at the camp were dinners around the campfire and fantastic breakfast cooked to order after the game drive. The most magical part of our stay were the game drives with Almero and Benny. We could not have wished for better guides. They were humorous, enthusiastic, informative, friendly, yet still very professional. It was a very nice touch that Almero joined us every evening. He was great company at the dinner table as well as with all the activities, as was Benny. Some special touches were the hot water bottles in our beds at night and on cold morning game drives and the sundowners complete with white tablecloth and snacks. For our son, the highlight was the impala poop spitting competition. A fantastic experience. Three nights was not enough, and we were very sad to leave."
"We were at Kapama for a total of 5 nights, with the first 3 nights at the buffalo camp. It was incredible, not only for the location and amenities, but also for the service and friendliness of the staff. Being up on a tented platform was a phenomenal experience, and we had monkeys running across our balcony two of the mornings we stayed there. The inside of the tents was the luxury you would expect from a five star resort, with all the comforts of home (A/C most importantly to us). The meals were exceptional, with the dinners around the boma feeling quite special. We got to know the staff, especially Jabu, who told us stories about his own experiences in South Africa and Kapama. All of the staff knew your names, and took real pride in helping you with anything you needed. But the real reason anyone goes to South Africa is for the safari game drives, which were truly amazing. Now I will say that it was our first time on safari, and being that Kamapa was a private game reserve, I thought it was the perfect place for first timers like ourselves. Our guides were Joe and Foster, who went above and beyond to show us not only the big five, but also any other wildlife in the area. They were so knowledgeable and answered any questions we had. I could not recommend these two highly enough. One of the truly special things about having Joe as your guide is that he is only one of a handful of guides at Kapama that can do game walks with the big five. He took us off of the vehicle (with his rifle, of course), and we walked through the bush up to the animals. During our visit we not only saw the big five from the vehicle, but we also got to see three of them (rhino, elephant, & cape buffalo) on three separate bush walks with Joe! It was amazing! We were literally 100 yards away from a group of 5 rhinos. A once in a lifetime experience. I could not recommend the Buffalo Camp highly enough. We also stayed at the Southern Camp, which was also great, but the Buffalo Camp was so much more intimate."
