Katambuga House is an eight-room guest house in Arusha, the northern Tanzanian town that most safaris into the Serengeti, Tarangire and Ngorongoro begin or end with. The setting is residential rather than wild, with lush gardens, established trees and views out across surrounding coffee estates.
Accommodation
The main house holds four bedrooms with king-sized beds. The remaining rooms sit in the garden as cottages, each with interleading doors so two rooms can be combined for families travelling together. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms, and Wi-Fi is available in the main areas.
Dining
Meals are served in the central dining room and lounge, with bed and breakfast, half board and full board rates available depending on how much of your day you plan to spend at the house. Drinking water is provided throughout.
Activities
The grounds themselves are the main draw. Tanzania is one of the world's leading birding destinations with roughly 1,150 recorded species, many endemic to Tanzania and East Africa, and the Katambuga gardens attract a steady cast of them. Beyond birding, guests use the pool, relax between flights and transfers, and arrange onward activities into Arusha National Park or further afield through Entara.

Katambuga House is an Arusha town/garden lodge used as an overnight pre/post safari property, not a bush camp — game drive, walking safari and private game vehicle minimum ages are not applicable here. Children of all ages are welcomed at the property.
