The Detail
As a restored locomotive, the train-hotel Kruger Shalati pays homage to the guests who explored the park nearly 100 years ago while welcoming new explorers from near and far.
The train accommodation offers 31 rooms, consisting of 24 carriage rooms and 7 bridge house rooms. The glass-walled, large train rooms allow for infinite views along the length of the Sabie River and are designed to ensure comfort. All rooms provide guests with a high-star luxury experience, accompanied by fine dining and other leisure experiences on site. Aligned with the floor level of the train lies a deck with a pool, offering guests the unique experience of taking a dip while watching crocodiles, hippos, and elephants just meters below.
Game viewing activities include morning and evening guided game drives led by well-trained ranger-guides in the Kruger National Park, offering a wildlife experience that ranks among the best in Africa.

Two distinct minimum-age rules apply by accommodation type. The Train on the Bridge enforces a hard minimum age of 12 — no children under 12 may stay onboard. Any guest under 12 booking the property must be accommodated in Bridge House, not on the Train. Participation of children in game drive activities remains at the guide's discretion in the interest of safety. A private game drive vehicle is available as a paid operational extra but is not tied specifically to families or children.

"Sara was absolutely amazing to work with. She created five different itinerary options for us to choose from based on the criteria and budget I provided for our family trip to Kruger National Park. What I appreciated most was how willing she was to connect over WhatsApp to really understand what we were looking for. After our call, she worked incredibly fast and sent all the options the very next day. Every itinerary included exactly what we asked for and stayed within our budget. Her service, attention to detail, and genuine care made the entire process stress-free. I honestly didn’t even know where to start planning this trip, so her help was enormous. Thanks to Sara, not only did we find the perfect safari package, but we also booked our flights as well. Thank you, Sara, for the excellent service and support — we truly appreciate everything you did for us!"
