The detail

The Estate boasts 17 luxuriously appointed spacious rooms and suites that feature bespoke furniture, wool-and-sisal carpets, textured layers of linen, horsehair, leather, wood, and stone in a calm color palette. The generous marble-clad en-suite bathrooms have double vanities, rain showers, heated towel rails and underfloor heating as standard. Careful attention to detail is prevalent throughout the property.

An average size of 42m²/452ft², the Classic rooms are situated in The Manor House and Max House, and offer various views, from the manicured gardens to the farm dam, orchards, vineyards, dramatic mountain backdrops and the village of Franschhoek.

An average size of 55m²/592ft², the Deluxe rooms are situated in The Manor House, Cellar Cottage and Vineyard Cottage, and offer various views, from the manicured gardens, plum orchards, and vineyards to the Franschhoek mountains and village.

The Studio rooms, each with its own terrace and fireplace, are on average 63m²/678ft² and are situated in The Manor House; Leeu Spa, with easy access to the spa facility, gym and pool; and Pomegranate Cottage, which has its own private courtyard. They all offer views of the manicured gardens, vineyards and mountains.

An average size of 97m²/1044ft², each spacious suite has its own lounge/study and fireplace. Situated in The Manor House and Max House and Terroir Cottage, the Executive Suites offer various views, from the manicured gardens and vineyards to mountain backdrops.

The Cellar Cottage is 354m²/3 810ft² in size and present in the original cellar. This heritage building enjoys views of the manicured gardens and vineyards. It comprises an Executive Suite with terrace and a Deluxe room, two terraces leading off the living room which has a fireplace, a pantry, and access to a private garden with a lawn.

An average size of 164m²/1 765ft², Vineyard Cottage offers easy access to Leeu Spa & Gym with its 15-meter swimming pool and affords views of the manicured vineyards, landscaped gardens, and a mountain backdrop. It comprises an Executive Suite with terrace and a Deluxe room.

An average size of 419m²/4 510ft² and surrounded by vineyards, Max House is housed in an original gabled building that reflects its Cape Dutch heritage. It has a courtyard with a private garden and comprises an Executive Suite, two Classic rooms, a living room with a fireplace, a dining room, a pantry and a kitchen.

The Dining Room encourages long, leisurely meals savored with a fine South African vintage from the cellar. Located in The Manor House on Leeu Estates on the slopes of the Dassenberg mountain, the setting offers exceptional valley, vineyard, and mountain views.

Complementing Leeu Collection are two new ventures on the main street of Franschhoek: TukTuk, a craft beer microbrewery in partnership with the award-winning Cape Brewing Company team, serves bespoke brews and Mexican-inspired food; and an exciting new culinary hub is home to Marigold, Franschhoek’s first Indian restaurant.

Mullineux & Leeu Family Wines produces award-winning wines in Riebeek-Kasteel in the Swartland wine region some 80 kilometers north of Cape Town and at Leeu Estates in Franschhoek. They were named the wine guide’s Winery of the Year for 2016. Guests have the opportunity to enjoy the phenomenal wine collection and purchase their favorites to take home.

Facilities include access to a 15-metre heated pool, complimentary use of bicycles, subject to availability, access to the Leeu Spa (treatments are subject to availability and for guests’ own account), access to the TechnoGym-equipped gym and the gym at Le Quartier Français for adults aged 13 years and older, nature trails (river, mountain and vineyard) at Leeu Estates.
