The Detail

There are 12 comfortable double tents nestled in a Tamboti grove and overlooking a dry riverbed. The tents are each set on a wooden platform and are furnished with king-size beds (which can be converted into twin beds), mosquito nets, leather couches, and en-suite bathrooms featuring a sunken concrete bath, double shower, double vanity, and a separate toilet.

Lodge facilities include a reception area, a large sitting area, dining area, bar, an extensive climate-controlled wine cellar, swimming pool with sun loungers, and a viewing deck that overlooks a nearby watering hole.

Dining at the camp is communal and usually takes place outdoors with log fires and torches. The cuisine consists of simple homemade dishes incorporating local produce. Special arrangements can be made for in-room dining and private bush dinners.

Activities offered at the camp or nearby include morning and afternoon open-vehicle game drives in the private reserve or the neighboring Kruger National Park, birdwatching from a newly built hide opposite a watering hole, guided hiking, walking safaris (available at an additional cost), plant life and flora observation, footprint tracking, private guided tours, and wildlife photography.

The 23,000-hectare private Manyeleti Game Reserve is one of the few remaining hidden gems, boasting the famous Big Five, 517 species of birds, 147 species of mammals, 114 species of reptiles, 50 species of fish, and 33 species of amphibians.
