The luxurious Jao Camp is positioned within the private Jao Concession that encompasses riverine forests and glistening floodplains. Jao Camp is a water wonderland, offering guests a classic Delta experience.
Remote and scenically splendid, the 150,000-acre Jao Concession embodies all the magic and mystique of Botswana, with vegetation that varies from permanent swamps to dry land. In the east, the Jao Flats boast water channels that cut their way through the papyrus and reed beds, providing the perfect environment for wildlife. Beautiful lush palm islands dot the water.
The camp boasts eight spacious tents and one family tent that are positioned in the shade of indigenous trees. Each tent features an en-suite bathroom with double vanities, indoor and outdoor showers, a lounge area, mosquito netting, fan, minibar, hairdryer, tea and coffee-making facilities, and a verandah with a sala. There are six twin-bedded tents and two king-sized bedded tents.
The family tent consists of two bedrooms with two three-quarter beds in each bedroom, a main en-suite bathroom with a bathtub and both indoor and outdoor showers, a second en-suite bathroom with an indoor shower only, individual entrances, and a shared deck.
The camp facilities include a dining area, plunge pool, library, wine cellar, gym, spa, boma, complimentary laundry service, and Wi-Fi.
Jao’s position, nestled among waterways and lagoons yet close to dry Kalahari woodland, allows you to enjoy both water and land experiences depending on the time of year. Activities available include mokoro excursions, boating safaris, morning and evening game drives, picnics, fishing, and spa treatments at Jao Spa.
A raised hide located about 20 minutes from camp is a great place to observe the comings and goings of wildlife. The hide can also be used for romantic sleep-outs for a maximum of two people.
During the inundation from April to September, lechwe are plentiful, and lions follow. Elephant numbers peak from August to November. Plains game and leopard sightings are excellent. Hunda Island offers a wide variety of wildlife, and birdlife viewing is particularly exceptional during the summer months.
Jao Camp is ideal for solo explorers, couples, and families looking for a luxury safari experience.

Pascal John at Safari.com guided me on different safari lodges (experience, rating), and most importantly knew about specials (buy 3 nights, get 4th for free) which allowed my family to secure a 5-star location at a more reasonable rate. Great advice, responsive and knowledgeable!

Sabi Sands Game Reserve reservations made easy
Made safari reservations with Pascal John. He was very helpful as we had a specific time frame that corresponded with the rest of our Africa trip. Went through Newmarket travel and Hays travel ..information about flight changes hard to get..but on arrival the holiday was taken over Safari.com..amazing ..experience everything was fine tuned and the staff ..guides drivers fabulous and friendly ..lots of knowledge..lots of fun and the surprises they did was so lovely ...loved every minute ..Paris our guide was amazing..10/10 and Eric driver ..the waiters and waitress every and everyone in the hotels .smiling and friendly..Best holiday of my life

Working with Anja at Safari.com was great. She was able to work some magic and got us a few nights at the safari lodge we really wanted, Ngoma. Unfortunately, our flight from the USA to South Africa was canceled and we were rebooked a day later but Anja was great about making sure our lodge and the transports knew about the change in plans and made sure we got to our trip as soon as we could. She was a great partner to have and communicated quickly whenever we reached out. I would highly recommend using her when planning a trip to Africa!
