Nice camp, offering comfortable clean rooms and wonderful game drives. Staff is extremely careful to your needs (a bit too careful to sell you something to drink regularly). but the multiple 3 hours game were wonderful.
Not only we could see many animals, but we had seen magnify scenes as the ranger was eager to share her passion.
A small minus for the 31/12 everything was closing a 22:30, we just celebrate the new year in our rooms.
Please note Kapama Camp is not part of the Kruger Park.
Our trip to Kapama Southern Camp was all we could have hoped for. Our guide and tracker, Jeffrey and Carlos, deserve most of the credit, but we'd be remiss not to mention our stunning accommodations (we watched waterbuck and elephant out our back door!) and the hardworking staff who made us feel so welcome. An advantage for us - since we only had 48 hours for safari - was the proximity of Kapama to the Hoedspruit airport, but I could see how some might prefer a more remote location. It's also admittedly expensive, but for a once-in-a-lifetime experience, it was definitely worth the investment. All the amenities at Kapama Southern Camp made for an unmatched experience. Jeffrey and Carlos went the extra mile to ensure we saw the Big 5 in our 48 hours, and at last, on the final morning, the elusive leopard! Truly unforgettable.
We stood at Kapama for two nights, though it would have been perfect to stay for 3. Service, attention, safari excursions and acommodations where superlative. We were at Southern Camp, and they made us feel like royalty. I would highly recommend it.
I would also like to congratulate Bjorn, from kruger, who helped us not only With reservation but With everything related to our trip.
Kapama was the last portion of our trip and the staff there ensured that the ending to our honeymoon was nothing but perfect! Our suite was very comfortable and spacious. Hazel and the other duty managers assisted me with a special task and were so helpful and kind! The ranger and tracker on our assigned safari were both extremely knowledgeable about the animals. They were able to provide use with all types of information about the animals such as their mating rituals, habits, and so forth! On our last night there we were upgraded to the luxury suite, provided with champagne, and set up with a private dinner! It was absolutely amazing!
The luxury suite is gorgeous and worth the money. My husband and I experienced many unforgettable sunrises and sunsets on this trip!
Great place, beautiful Lodge, very attentive to details, our Range Adolf was great, very knowledgeable about the area and animals. The suites are little villas with your own swimming pool, jacuzzi, sometimes animals visit you in your area.
Food is above average, sometimes fair, and sometimes great. I give this place 5 stars overall
From the first hospitable greeting to the last sad farewell, we just fell in love with this wonderful Lodge. As a single Father travelling with his 2 sons (11 and 13), I was very grateful to the caring and terrific Staff who made us all feel very comfortable and welcome. At no stage did I feel that this was a not a child friendly Lodge. Sure - there were a few quiet hours during the day but I wanted that so my boys could 'detox' from iPads etc and just learn to have some quiet time in their lives (another unique experience that they actually didn't mind experiencing). The highlight of our stay was being in the wonderful company of Aneen and Muxe our Ranger and Guide. They obviously knew the bush and animals well, (saw nearly all we wanted to) but it was more than that - they became like friends and we had many a wonderful drive, full of humour, banter and discussion. Our vehicle always seemed to have very happy and excited bunch of tourists. A great thanks to Aneen and Muxe for being the highlight of our African experience. Your interaction with the guests and each other was outstanding. Matt and Joe are still raving about you two!!
We were in the family suite and I must say it was absolutely magnificent. We have stayed at 5 other Lodges over the years and this blew us away. It was super comfortable, spotless, luxurious and spacious. The private pool tipped it over the edge for us. A real WOW factor
The food was delicious, plentiful and regular. We seemed to be constantly eating (by choice).
The buildings and suites blend in well with the surroundings.
Service in the dining room was a tad slow on occasions but that was dependent on the volume of diners. Otherwise the service was outstanding.
Thank you to all at Kapama Southern for the most memorable stay. I would serious consider including this Lodge on your next African schedule.
We traveled to South Africa at short notice but were totally blown away with its brilliance. Kapama Private Game Reserve Southern Camp was excellent. From the moment we were greeted to the very end was marvelous. Every staff member was totally focused on service and they were all extremely friendly and helpful. Eugene runs a beautiful Camp and could not have been more helpful .He seemed to greet us every day and engage in conversation, a admiral quality from a busy General Manager. The game drives were exceptional, seeing all the animals and wildlife. Thank you all for a wonderful experience.Would totally recommend
Stayed here for a night and totally loved it! There are 25 individual chalets which makes this camp private and quaint if you want private getaway. Each room has nice view facing the wild and if you're lucky you may just get a few wild animals roaming around outside your chalet. Recommend to bring a torch light with you as it may get quite dark at night as you walk back to you're expecting chalet.
My family of 5 just returned from our incredible South African Safari. This was our first time to South Africa and we truly had an amazing and highly memorable vacation due mostly to Kapama Southern Camp. We stayed at Kapama Southern Camp for 4 days and 3 nights and this was truly our most favorite part of our entire 11 day trip. The facility is stunningly chic and very progressive yet unobtrusive and blends well into the environment. The staff could not be nicer. Everyone catered to all our needs and checked with us throughout the day to see if they could do anything to make our stay with them even better! The facility is small, friendly, and exclusive (only a maximum of around 40 people can stay at a time). One can sense an immediate genuineness and warmth as soon as you enter the camp. It is easy to see that the management and staff all care about being as welcoming and accommodating as possible. Our ranger/guide Doctor was incredible at tracking along with our tracker Brian. We were able to see the "big 5" within the first two bush drives! We were inches away from lions and leopards and have the most amazing photographs and stories to tell. As for the rooms itself, my husband and I had a private villa and our 3 children were in the family villa next door. The rooms were incredibly modern and tastefully done. Aside from our private jacuzzis, each villa had its very own private pool that looked out to the savanna and that we could see while lying in our bed. The food was delicious and the best we had at all of our 5 star lodges. Also, the gift shop on site was wonderful. Their prices were less than some of the villages. We were delighted and surprised by the extensive variety of items and did the majority of our gift shopping her. I can not speak highly enough of Kapama Southern Camp. We loved this facility so much that no one in my family wanted to leave for our next leg of our vacation. My family and I have not been able to stop talking about this majestic place and we hope to vacation here again in the near future!!! ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS LODGE!
This Safari camp is truly superb.
Private lodges with air conditioning, a complex with a beautiful pool.....and yet only minutes away from the big 5.
The staff are just amazing and the food on site as good as any top quality hotel.
If you want to safari in 5* style, this is the place to be!
If you are interested in Africa's animals and want to learn even more then I recommend a stay at Kapama Southern Camp. We stayed in room 11 for 3 nights in July and were taken on two game drives of 3 hours each per day in open vehicles holding 9, with our guide and a spotter at the front.. Our guide Garry was passionate and very informative, and we all left feeling very satisfied with the experience. The room was spacious with a lovely private courtyard, the bed great, and the bath was nice and hot. The staff was friendly and helpful and there was food galore. Harmless animals roamed freely within the hotel area, which was protected by an electric fence. We were shown almost all South Africa's animals and also birdlife up close and personal and we learned a lot. Wi Fi reception was free but only fair, and the floor was cold..
Kapama Southern Camp favours super-modern decor and luxury in an African wilderness. The rooms were well appointed and very new/ clean.
We had a family suite which had adjoining rooms and a pool.
Our guide, Garry and tracker, Richard totally made this experience for us - the game drives were awesome and as usual you never knew what was gong to happen next ! The food was always buffet style which helps with a family as everyone can easily choose what they want and graze through the meal. There is a lot of down time between drives and not much to do if it isn't swimming weather - especially for kids. This camp could really do with a tennis court or games room.
From Kapama we went to the Endangered Species center which is worthwhile and also hot air ballooning which was an amazing experience ( be prepared to get up at 4:45 !)
Everything, from the first minute you get to this place, is thought of to the last detail.
From the personal approach - the place is informed by the gate that you are there and everyone is presented by name upon reception, to the culinary part to the FABULOUS room. The service is nothing less than spoiling.
We were there at the end of winter, after a dry season and the surrounding had the look of real bush area, but this only made the place look more special. There are wild (safe...) animals wandering around, some are even friendly.
The safari was great, with Lawrence, who was knowledgeable and pleasant, and Justice, our perfect tracker who spotted a group of no less than 3 tigers for us, as well as a cheetah having supper.
We were there for only one night, and we were sorry to leave. Would definitely stay here again if opportunity shows.
