Ukhozi Lodge is a superior four-star graded lodge located in the 10 000 hectare malaria-free Kariega Private Game Reserve. The reserve which is only a one hour drive from Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape, teems with wildlife including the famous Big Five, ensuring an unforgettable safari experience.

The Detail
Ukhozi Lodge boasts ten well-appointed Luxury Suites uniquely crafted from log. Each suite features a king-size bed or twin beds, an en-suite bathroom with a shower and bathtub, air-conditioning, a minibar, an in-room safe, tea and coffee-making facilities, a hairdryer, and a private deck with a plunge pool.
The lodge's facilities include a unique African-style lounge, a spacious dining area, an outdoor boma, and a swimming pool.
Activities at the lodge include early morning and afternoon/evening open-vehicle game drives led by professional guides, river cruises, canoeing, fishing, and guided bush walks offering up-close encounters with the fauna, flora, and smaller wondrous creatures of the African bush.
Kariega Game Reserve is a wildlife sanctuary home to an abundance of animals, including lions, elephants, rhinos, buffalo, leopards, hippos, hyenas, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, elands, kudus, waterbucks, and a variety of other antelope, as well as a myriad of bird species like the nesting crowned eagle, martial eagle, and fish eagle. You will explore various habitats that highlight five different ecosystems: valley bushveld, savannah grasslands, fynbos, riverine forests, and acacia woodland.

Child rates
No children under 10. Children 10–16 as 3rd person sharing (extra bed in suite, on request) pay 50% of the per-person-sharing rate; 17+ as 3rd person sharing pays the full per-person-sharing rate. Children 10+ in their own suite pay the full adult rate.
Notable exceptions
- Ukhozi Lodge does not accept children under 10, unlike sister Kariega lodges (Main Lodge, River Lodge, The Homestead) which welcome children of all ages. Private game-drive vehicles are not offered by Kariega, so there is no paid workaround to bring younger children onto drives. Walking safaris remain strictly 16+.
