The Details
The camp features 14 luxury suites situated along its edge, providing total privacy and a seamless connection with the natural environment. From these suites, guests can observe elephants playing in the waterhole, hear the melodious calls of the woodland kingfisher, smell the earthy scent of the bushveld, touch the rough bark of ancient trees, and breathe in air so pure it feels exhilarating.
Each suite at Mashatu Lodge is air-conditioned, elegantly decorated, and adorned with stunning black-and-white photographs of Africa's majestic wildlife. The spacious interiors include a double bed, an extra-large single bed, a seating area with a single day bed, and an en-suite bathroom equipped with both a bathtub and shower, as well as a separate toilet.
Two expansive swimming pools provide a refreshing retreat for guests between their safari activities.
Dining at Mashatu is a feast of traditional African cuisine—rich in flavor yet unpretentious. Guests can savor fresh fruits and vegetables, homemade breads and pies, succulent meat dishes, and mouthwatering desserts reminiscent of home-cooked meals.
In addition to game drives, Mashatu Lodge offers a variety of other amenities, including a fully stocked curio shop for those in need of retail therapy, a Discovery Room filled with fascinating ancient relics, and an on-site spa offering luxurious and rejuvenating treatments. Transfers within Mashatu Game Reserve include transportation to and from Limpopo Valley Airfield, Pont Drift Border Post, Platjan Border Posts, or the Mathathane Village parking facility. Vehicle parking and car wash services are available at Mathathane Village and Limpopo Valley Airfield.
Cable car transfers across the Limpopo River at Pont Drift Border Post are included as well.
The price also covers the Mashatu conservation levy, government bed levy, and VAT.

Children under 12 sharing with two full-paying adults pay the child tariff (equivalent to the single supplement: approx. $332–$384 pppn depending on season). Proof of age required at check-in.
Notable exceptions
- Mashatu Lodge welcomes children of all ages under strict adult supervision, with the Kids@Mashatu programme and complimentary babysitting available on request. On game drives, children under 5 are not permitted on shared vehicles — parents must reserve sole-use of a private vehicle (additional charge may apply); the Family Happy Hour at Matebole Hide also requires a privately booked vehicle. Guided Walks (additional activity) require children 8–12 to be accompanied by a parent; under 8s are not permitted. The Lala Limpopo Sleep Out Hide is a dedicated overnight hide at Mashatu Game Reserve, running from 16:00 to 09:00. It features two separate sleeping areas approximately 8 metres apart, each with two ¾ beds, accommodating a maximum of 4 guests plus 1 private guide. Guests can book on a shared or exclusive-use basis. The overnight replaces the afternoon and evening game drives, and no children under 16 are permitted unless sole use of the hide is secured. The hide is closed in January, February, and December.

Night Under the Stars (WalkMashatu Fly Camp)
The Night Under the Stars is an add-on overnight experience at the WalkMashatu Fly Camp. Guests depart their lodge on the afternoon game drive with an overnight bag, ending at the fly camp for dinner, drinks, night photography, a night walk and/or fireside stories before sleeping under the stars. The following morning a light breakfast is served before a morning game drive, after which guests return to their lodge for brunch. Available to guests at Mashatu's commercial lodges and Kolokolo (max 6 pax); not available to Shalimpo guests.
