Nxai Pan is located on the western edge of the Nxai Pan National Park which borders with the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans in Botswana. The biggest draw to this area is the famous Baines Baobabs and the migration of thousands of zebra - the second largest animal migration in Southern Africa.
The eco-friendly camp which faces east over the open grasslands of the pans boasts 9 Thatched Units including a Family Unit that are specially designed to provide a constant and comfortable temperature throughout the year. Each suite has an en-suite bathroom with double vanities and both indoor and outdoor showers, a lounge area, fan, in-room safe, writing desk, and a viewing deck that overlooks the vast pan and the waterhole in front of the camp, where elephant are frequent visitors. The Family Unit has an additional twin-bedded bedroom.
The camp facilities include a dining area, bar, lounge area, boma, laundry service, and a swimming pool.
The pans were once part of the super lake that covered much of central Botswana, including Lake Ngami and the Okavango DeltaThe landscape is largely covered by grassland and dotted with clusters of umbrella acacia trees and mopane woodland to the north. During the rains, from November to late March, the landscape changes to lush green, the pans become covered in succulent grasses which attract large herds of antelope. The area is well known for large numbers of springbok and during rainy season oryx, elephant and zebra migrate to the region. The giraffe are also often seen in the area in large herds with up to 30 in a group. These large herds attract many predators – lion, cheetah, jackal, spotted and brown hyena and sometimes the endangered wild dog and the secretive leopard. During the rainy season, birdlife here is prolific, many species being different to what one would see in the Delta – it is definitely a birders paradise.
Activities offered at Nxai Pan are game drives, day trips to the famous Baines’ Baobabs and Khama Khama Pan, star gazing, as well as nature walks with Bushman trackers.

Great planning and service
Great planning and service, and everything worked like clockwork. We booked an Inyari Lodge safari with air with Safari.com. it wasn't clear if there will be 2 or three of us, so with Candis' help we booked a family chalet for 2 and added the third later when it was confirmed he can come. Candis put us on flights that maximized our game drive time (unlike some of the other guests) so we got all 6 drives in 3 nights. The lodge was great. Especially the game drives. We saw more than we hoped for. Additionally, Safari.com's insurance was very competitive. Highly recommended.

Fantastic travel agent for African safari family trip!
Wow! Shann was and is fantastic! She figured out a way to make our entire trip work. We are going on a 2 week trip to South Africa and Botswana. She really helped tie it all together as a wonderful, cohesive trip. She is super nice and super smart and very knowledgeable. She is also flexible and thoughtful, etc., etc. When the chips were down (and we literally were considering pulling the plug on the whole trip), she found a way to make the entire itinerary work and got us excited about our wonderful adventure!
