The Details
Situated in southwest Rwanda, just south of Lake Kivu near the Burundi border, One & Only Nyungwe House is nestled within the scenic tea plantations of Gisakura, on the edge of Nyungwe National Park. Spanning approximately 1,020 square kilometers, this protected landscape encompasses rainforest, bamboo, grasslands, swamps, and bogs. It is one of the last remaining mountain rainforests on Earth.
Accommodation
Your stay at Nyungwe National Park offers a unique retreat on the edge of one of Africa’s ancient rainforests. The resort’s beautiful villas, nestled in clusters among the treetops, provide a secluded sanctuary for adventurers while honoring Rwanda’s natural beauty and cultural heritage. With selected dining and beverages included, you’ll also enjoy two signature experiences daily.
The luxurious Two-Bedroom Canopy Villa, set between dense forest and lush tea fields, provides ample space for families, friends, or larger groups. The master bedroom features a four-poster king bed, while the second bedroom has twin beds. Both rooms have wood-burning stoves, private decks, and en suite bathrooms with twin vanities, walk-in showers, and standalone baths.
The Canopy Treehouse, ideal for couples, offers either a king-sized or twin beds, a cozy lounge area, and an expansive private balcony amid the treetops. Here, you can relax to the sounds of the forest and catch glimpses of rare birds and colobus monkeys. Your stay includes exceptional dining, select beverages, and two signature experiences each day.

Notable exceptions
- One&Only's official terms page sets a strict minimum age of 15 across the property. A separate third-party trade page (safari.com) lists an outdated alternate policy of "children aged 10 and over welcome" in a Canopy Treehouse King — the supplier's own current terms page takes precedence at min age 15. Chimpanzee and primate treks in Nyungwe National Park also require a minimum age of 15 per Rwandan park regulations. A Two-Bedroom Canopy Villa is available for families and larger groups, but it does not lower the minimum age. No rollaway beds are available.
