The detail

The historic Oude Werf Hotel was built in 1802 on the site of South Africa's first church which was destroyed by fire in 1710. The hotel is located in the heart of Stellenbosch which is well known for its vibrant shops, art galleries, stunning museums and beautiful examples of Cape Dutch architecture within walking distance. The luxurious landmark hotel is filled with antiques and decorated in soft tones, creating a warm and welcoming ambiance. Tasteful furnishings, attentive service, gourmet cuisine, and world-class amenities combine to give guests a memorable stay.

Oude Werf has 58 luxurious en-suite bedrooms in three different room types, set across the hotel property. Most are centered on the poolside gardens or in our historic inn-house. Most above-ground rooms have lift access, with some adjacent rooms interleading and family group-friendly.

All rooms have been extensively renovated or are newly built, incorporating latest interior fittings and standard room features which include a King or twin beds, en-suite bathroom with luxury bathroom amenities, high-speed internet access, tea and coffee making facilities, optional mini bar, air-conditioning, work desk, and satellite television.

23 contemporary styled Superior Rooms are located on all three floors of the Hotel, overlooking the shady central garden or quiet vine-covered courtyard. The open-plan style rooms spill with natural light and offer a bedroom, luxury en-suite with shower, vanity and toilet.

The 12 spacious high-ceilinged Deluxe Rooms are furnished in rich colors and comfortable modern Cape style and boast king or twin beds, large luxury en-suite with free-standing bath and separate shower, and Nespresso coffee machine.

23 spacious open-plan Luxury Rooms are located on the ground, first and second floors of the hotel. They enjoy airy views of the quiet central gardens or courtyard. Each room features a bedroom with a separate en-suite bath, shower, vanity and toilet, and step-out patio or balcony with chairs. These rooms are suited to families as they have two sets of interleading rooms available.

Oude Werf offers guests a tranquil space in the center of the vibrant town. The swimming pool sparkles by the manicured gardens, a perfect spot for relaxing or sipping sundowners.

The newly revamped bistro, Liefde, serves classic Cape cuisine, with a modern twist. The culinary delights are accompanied with wines from an extensive wine list from the world-famous wine region. Oude Werf offers conference packages in a well-equipped conference venue, for up to 40 delegates.

Guests have the opportunity to explore the Stellenbosch Wine Route. Established in 1971, it’s the oldest in the country. Today the Stellenbosch Wine Route comprises of more than 200 wine and grape producers within the boundaries of the Stellenbosch Wine of Origin classification. Daily wine tasting, cellar tours, and sales are offered at most cellars, and many of these offer restaurant and picnic facilities. The Vine Hopper offers a convenient Hop on Hop off service in the Stellenbosch wine area. Guided cycle tours through the city and the vineyards are also available.
