Dramatically set into a cliff-face overlooking spectacular Leopard Rock, the unique Rock Lodge at &Beyond Phinda Private Game Reserve is an architectural fascination.
Phinda Private Game Reserve is a rich and diverse park that encompasses 28 555 hectares of protected wildlife land in KwaZulu-Natal. The reserve is positioned between the Mkuze Game Reserve and the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park (a World Heritage Site), as well as being within easy reach of the Indian Ocean coastline. The landscape is lush with grassy woodlands, and broad, sweeping mountain ranges. It is the home of the famous Big Five.
Accommodation at Phinda Rock Lodge comprises of six secluded Suites, each unit incorporating an en-suite bathroom with outdoor showers, private plunge pool, minibar, private viewing deck, mosquito netting, overhead fans, air conditioning, in-room safe, fireplace, gym in a basket and Wi-Fi access. Your every need will be taken care of with the services of a personal butler who will soon know your favorite beverage and dishes.
Phinda Rock Lodge offers an exciting range of safari activities, including morning and evening game drives in open Land Rovers, sometimes out into the middle of the bush for a safari breakfast, or out to the Mzinene River for a morning boat cruise. These drives are conducted and conducted by a team of experienced guides, all ready to share their knowledge of the area. Having the coastline as near as it is, guests do have the option of snorkeling, scuba diving, and fishing out at sea.
During the day, temperatures are known to soar so guests have the choice to laze around the swimming pool or to head out, on foot, discovering firsthand the smaller wondrous creatures and plant life native to the area. For a more relaxed experience, visits are arranged around bird watching, or simply a trip to the nearby bird hide, to enjoy the area's huge bird population. On evening game drives, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a cooling refreshment and watch the most magical sunset.
Additionally, Phinda Rock Lodge offers Zulu village tours, night turtle drives (seasonal), black rhino tracking on foot and participative conservation experiences.

While we have not traveled as yet
While we have not traveled as yet, the itinerary that we developed is very exciting and we are looking forward to this experience very much. Jayson Scheffers has been a wonderfully engaged and responsive partner in developing our agenda, despite our having some needs to change travel dates and agendas during the planning process because of family illness that necessitated our changing plans.

My first experience a number of months…
My first experience a number of months back wasn't as I wanted. I picked up with Dolan a little after this to find when the best time to Safari was with the chance of seeing the "big 5" and he was so helpful, guiding me to July-September. With the cooler winter months being the better chances to see more wildlife and the big five. This lead me on to deal with Jayson. Jayson has pulled out all the stops, working past 9pm Cape Town time( 8pm London UK) to help meet my needs. I travel out on 6th July and cannot wait, Thank you Dolan and Jayson. Outstanding and professional performance by Pascal John
Pascal John quickly proved his professionalism as well as his in-depth and experienced knowledge of South Africa safaris. He demonstrated the ability to rapidly understand what I was looking for out of a safari trip and how to make that happen. He added real value to the process with his connections to lodging reservations at various lodges and arranged for an itinerary that is not possible to accomplish by oneself on the internet alone. For example, he was able to negotiate away for me a single supplement. He added immediate value and quickly/painlessly everything came together.
