Our stay at the Royal Malewane was truly exceptional and outweighed our expectations. It started from the moment we arrived and were greeted by the beautiful Front of the House Mger Sophia. She anticipated our needs before we did. Our safaris were over-the top fantastic due to the knowledgeable team of Ryan and Terrace. This review would not be complete without mentioning Chef Michael. Every meal was divine…special thanks! The General Manager Andrew made us feel so special and arranged a very romantic dinner for our last night. He also took time from his busy schedule to make suggestions for our trip to Cape Town. The manager of the spa Rene is fantastic! This is an amazing property and the staff make it Heaven on Earth!

We arrived on their private air strip and were greeted with warm hospitality. The food was amazing. Our game driver and tracker wonderful. We saw lots of game as we traveled through the bush day and night. All the staff went out of their way to make our visit special. We want to go back.

We have been on many African safaris since 2002 and stayed at camps in Kenya, Tanzania, Botswana, and South Africa, and Royal Malewane ranks with the very best. I don't see how anyone could find fault with the accommodation here or the very high level of service and friendliness. We stayed in a luxury suite (#5) in the main lodge and also had the privilege of one special night in Africa House, the 6-bedroom villa for groups. Every area was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. As others have commented, 5 stars are simply not enough for this camp. As for the food, my husband and I agreed that it was the best we had experienced in all the camps.Of course, the heart of any safari is the bush, and the game drives were always exciting. Both of our ranger-tracker teams (Piet and Patrick, and Head Ranger Juan and Wilson) were knowledgeable, courteous, and helpful. We saw wonderful interactions among the animals, and care was always taken so that everyone could get a good position for photos. Also, there were never clusters of vehicles at sightings. Finally, I have a handicap that makes it difficult to climb into the Land Rover, and I received friendly and generous help from all the staff.I was also very impressed with Royal Malewane's commitment to conservation. Juan showed us the relocation section which had been used for rhinos and was currently in use to reintroduce the eland antelope to this area. Also, Royal Malewane has committed a great deal of time, effort, and funds to fight poaching, making us feel that we were spending our dollars not just for our own enjoyment (which was fantastic) but also making a small contribution to the intense effort to preserve the unique and endangered environment of the African bush.We are especially grateful to the general manager, Andrew Rosettenstein, who did much more than his job required to enable us to stay an extra night at Royal Malewane.

I absolutely cannot describe how much I love this resort and the people, but will certainly try. We flew in to the runway right outside the resort and were picked up by John and Jonus our guide and tracker. We were greeted by Rene, Sophie, Andrew, the manager, and Warren and a cold cloth and juice. The minute we stepped in we were in awe of nature and the resort. They made us feel welcome and took us to Suite 8, which is nothing short of breathtaking. There was lots of squealing of excitement (mainly from me), but I think my husband wanted to do the same. From that moment on we were in love with this resort. We had a world class lunch and went out for the evening drive with John and Jonus. During the drive we saw amazing animals. The next few days involved seeing baby elephants, lions, leopards, warthogs and many amazing animals that we will forever remember. When you return from the game drives they are always waiting for you with a fun drink and a cool cloth. They provide you with fun surprises with breakfasts and dinners. (I won't spoil them for you on here, but again, amazing experiences that I will never forget.) The animals are of course the stars, but honestly without the people it would have not been even close to the experience we had. Every single staff member seemed to not only do their job perfectly, but go so above and beyond in the details. The thing that is amazing is that they are passionate about their guests. Every single person....passionate about what they do. How can that be? Never before have I felt sad about leaving a vacation because I was going to miss the people, but that is exactly how I feel. Esther was so lovely every single day. Andrew told us awesome stories and was always making sure we had everything we need, John our tracker answered every single question I had, whether it was about the difference between a white and black dinosaur to crazy questions like who would win between a lion and a crocodile. Patient man for sure! I've left the food for last. Oh the food! Every single dish was so incredible and I am a complete foodie. Beautifully cooked meals and South African wines or a cosmopolitan overlooking the beautiful African scenery and a whatever animals happen to come by (or a monkey wanting to steal a piece of fruit!). We will be back as soon as possible as we now want to visit every year.

I couldn't even wait till I was home to write this review so I'm sat in the airport doing it, having just left the lodge. I've never written a review before but as this experience was so special I had to! From the level of service to the incredible location and detail put into the lodge, this was the most unbelievable experience I've ever had. Our ranger Piet and tracker Patrick were just wonderful and as it was our first time on safari we naturally wanted to see it 'all' and we really did!I couldn't recommend this lodge enough, I've never known any other holiday come closer to perfection than this.Thank you Royal Malawane and in particular the staff who looked after us, Esther, Mboso, Weiner, Rochelle, Pete and Patrick!

This lodge truly offers many outstanding experiences not easily found at comparable upscale lodges in South Africa. There are really two different lodge experiences, the more traditional main lodge with separate suites, clustered around a grand main area with restaurant, bar, shop and the spa close by. About 800 m distant the newer Africa house, with the suites and the other facilities under one roof. Difficult choice - we were in the traditional part and loved every minute there. In addition to the simply outstanding cuisine and service everywhere we were most impressed by the guides and trackers who made every single game drive a huge success with their can do attitude, intimate knowledge they were more than eager to share. Truly the best.

We stayed at the Royal Malewane for 4days/3nights and had the experience of a lifetime. Not only was the hotel beautifully appointed and laid out, the rooms were magnificent and had lots of privacy and we experienced the best hospitality staff i have ever come across. Their kindness, care and hospitality was extraordinary. We came to know all of them and they went out of their way to take care of us - the best! The safari drives were also exceptional with some of the best guides/trackers in the business (we had Peit and Patrick) - we saw all of the Big Five and many more, including beautiful baby lion cubs. And the food - was extraordinary, every dish seemed like it was the best we ever had! Anyone wanting a luxury safari experience should choose the Royal Malewane - it is well worth cost.

My family and I, a group of 9, traveled around Africa for 3 weeks before we ended our travels at the Africa House in Royal Malewane. After staying at beautiful tented camps and accommodations around Southern Africa, it was our weekend- spent relaxing at a Royal Malewane. For a large group or family, Africa House is a must! We all had plenty of privacy and space but could all congregate in our own living spaces, by the pool or dine together in our dining room at our leisure. The evening spent under the stars dining outside in the magnificent tent set up by the fabulous house staff was by far my favorite. Juan was our guide and was more than accommodating to our schedules- some wanted to sleep in others wanted to go out in the evening later, no matter what he always found something interesting to look at! Ashel, Peggy and Vincent were fantastic- they made sure everything in the house was in perfect shape! Of all the 5 star resorts and hotels, It was the best service of any place I have ever stayed!!! We cannot wait to one day return!

Unorgettable trip in South Africa
We have spent 12 days as a family in South Africa with my 3 children and my wife who is in a wheelchair. Thanks to Pascal, Safari.com consultant, we were able to spend an unforgettable moment with a great program while being well accompanied despite our constraints. I recommand particularly the "Monwana game lodge" for a safari in Hoedspruit. It's an amazing place with very nice people and a real family atmosphere. Thank you to the entire Safari.com team for this unforgettable trip.

Superior service, knowledgeable, transparent, amazing can-do attitude
These guys get 10/10. I have booked with them a few times. To Kruger National Park, including both public and private(concession) camps, flights and car hire. Their senior agent, Dolan is exceptional. Nothing is too much trouble. Attention to detail, transparency, and 'can-do' attitude are out of the ordinary. I recently came into contact with Tanya at safari.com as well. It looks like all their agents are similarly well trained. Thank you. I cannot recommend Dolan and his team highly enough.

Cape Town miracle
I was in Cape Town, South Africa recently for an athletic competition and had allowed myself a week of personal time to relax and properly conclude the trip, but had not bothered to plan a safari to occupy the time. I was skeptical of the cost and whether I would enjoy the experience, however a couple days into that final week it occurred to me, in a bit of a panic attack, what a waste it would be not to take advantage of this opportunity. I hopped online and started looking at flights to Johannesburg (almost all the safaris in SA start there with an early morning pick up), but it was basically impossible to get a flight early enough and/or to coordinate with the multiple safaris operating in or just outside of Kruger. With no apparent options available to turn my remaining 4 1/2 days into even a 3 day safari I stumbled on the most obvious website one could imagine, Safari.com. I'd completely given up negotiating all the variables on my own but here was a safari travel agent that might be able to help me .. and they were based right out of Cape Town, literally a stones throw from my lodgings. Serendipity, or so i hoped. I immediately sent out an email and crossed my fingers .. for roughly an hour and a half, at which point Dolan from Safari.com responded to me requesting I give him a call so that we could expedite potential arrangements. My in country phone plan wasn't able to make calls, but we arranged for him to call me and not 3 hours after being in the grip of despair Dolan got through to me and far from notifying me of how absurd it was to hold out hope for a literally, last minute safari adventure with barely 4 days available to me, he had already worked out all the details I'd sent and created a preliminary safari trip that would bypass Johannesburg airport for a flight the next morning to a closer, much, much smaller airport where I would be picked up taken, not to a 3 day safari, but a full 4 day safari, then back to the tiny, tiny airport for a return flight to Cape Town with 2 hours to spare for my return leg all the way home. It almost feels like an afterthought, after the minor miracle Dolan was able to conjure up, but the safari itself at Simbavati Lodge was just an absolutely stunning experience. The single "tent" he booked me was as luxurious as any 4 star hotel I've stayed in, the game drives, one every morning, one every evening were more amazing than I could have ever imagined, and the food, 3 meals a day with snacks and an open bar was sublime. I could go on about the wonderful staff, or the wonderful other safari goers you can meet and grab a drink with, or the different animals walking through the open lodge facilities daily .. but I've gone on long enough. I'll simply conclude by saying .. safari, absolutely, yes, do it, it is amazing. And when you do decide, Safari.com will do you right and if you have the pleasure of working with Dolan, do give him my thanks .. the entire experience was the best part of my trip :)

A great company
What to say! We planned a South African Safari for 2020 with Safari.com. We researched companies and took a chance on one we had never heard of before. Henry Franklin was our agent, we gave him our budget and wish list. He came up with a wonderful looking trip and we made our choices! Then came Covid, preventing us from going. We couldn’t have been in better hands. Henry rebooked everything for the next year. He kept us updated on how things looked there. When in 2021, we decided it still looked iffy, he rebooked us a second time for 2022. We couldn’t have been happier with the service we had in a rough time for all. We had a wonderful experience on our trip when we finally got to go!! Henry had everything so well organized and gave us a detailed list of what transfer companies would be meeting us and when. When Airlink bumped us and put us on standby returning from Victoria Falls, we called the concierge number Henry had given us and Catherine worked hard on this and got us back on our flight. The Safari.com team had our back and we have no regrets. Would definitely use them again. Our lodging was wonderful, saw the big 5 within first 2 drives. Henry definitely knew the territory and did a great job matching what we wanted with where he suggested we go and stay. Thanks Safari.com, Henry and Catherine!
