Suspend what you know about luxury tented camps. The latest addition to the Thornybush Collection, Saseka Tented Camp, is state-of-the-art, luxurious and imbued with idyllic African wilderness. Saseka is the Tsonga word for Beautiful. Set in the north-eastern portion of the big-5 game rich Thornybush Nature Reserve, situated in the greater Kruger National Park.

Highlights

  • Set alongside the Monwana River - an important source of water in the reserve, Saseka offers luxury accommodation at its best and exceptional game viewing.
  • The day starts as dawn breaks over the bushveld. After an early morning wake-up call, coffee, tea and rusks are served on the main deck.
  • The afternoon game drive is preceded by high tea and extends into the evening to view seldom seen nocturnal species by torchlight.

The details

Saseka, elegantly positioned on the banks of the Monwana dry-riverbed, which sweeps through the reserve, with a distinct curve in the river being a natural catalyst for the site of the main area. The lodge blends a wonderfully spacious and light, modern look with natural materials and textures, finished with elements reminiscent of a bygone era.

The camp boasts eight elevated Tented Suites, each with a four poster bed draped in mosquito netting, an opulent en-suite bathroom, outdoor shower, stackable glass doors for exceptional views of the bushveld from all rooms, air conditioning, in-room safe, tea and coffee making facilities, and an expansive viewing deck with deck chairs and a private splash pool.

The gorgeous Leadwood Villa boasts two bedrooms that can accommodate up to four adults and two children, a lounge, a dining area where private meals are savored, and a large viewing deck with a splash pool and pool loungers.

The main camp facilities include an expansive deck area with spectacular views of the river, two large fireplaces, a small gift, Wi-Fi access, laundry service and a swimming pool.

Thornybush Game Reserve shares an unfenced border with the Kruger National Park, so the animals move freely between the reserve and park. The Kruger is home to as many as 147 mammal species, including the Big Five and other incredible species such as giraffe, wild dogs, cheetah and hyena. For bird lovers, there are more than 500 species or birds recorded in the park.

Saseka is perfect for those travelers who enjoy a personalized service, ultra-luxurious accommodation and a more exclusive safari experience.

Great experience working with Lisa
Great experience working with Lisa from Safari.com, provided very helpful information and came up with a detailed itinerary for our stay in Cape Town and our 3 day safari at Sanbona. Unfortunately Lisa needed to go to a hospital but the company took over the booking process and all went very smooth. We wish Lisa a quick recovery.

Outstanding and professional performance by Pascal John
Pascal John quickly proved his professionalism as well as his in-depth and experienced knowledge of South Africa safaris. He demonstrated the ability to rapidly understand what I was looking for out of a safari trip and how to make that happen. He added real value to the process with his connections to lodging reservations at various lodges and arranged for an itinerary that is not possible to accomplish by oneself on the internet alone. For example, he was able to negotiate away for me a single supplement. He added immediate value and quickly/painlessly everything came together. This includes booking flights, ground transport, lodging and wildlife drives. I can without reservation recommend working with Pascal John at Safari.com.
