The Detail

Hwange is known as “the land of the giants” for its large elephant herds. Somalisa, set on a private concession in the heart of Hwange National Park, is famous for its intimate encounters with elephants that love to drink from the pool in front of the camp. Tucked away under the dappled shade of an acacia grove along the edge of an ancient seasonal floodplain, Somalisa provides guests with breathtaking views of Hwange's golden savannah plains.

Somalisa features seven elegant luxury sail tents and offers a place of simple luxury, focusing on guest experiences to ensure a safari adventure that exceeds expectations. This intimate bush camp is perfect for relaxing with friends and loved ones. Each tent is equipped with modern features such as a fan, a battery charging station, a wood-burning fireplace, and a private viewing deck. The bathroom, inspired by the romance of yesteryear, includes an indoor and outdoor bathroom, a copper slipper-style bathtub, and endless views of the vast plains beyond.

With a complete solar power farm and a water purification system that allows the camp to recycle 80% of the water used, Somalisa Camp is leading the way in eco-friendly safari accommodation. It has been awarded the first GOLD Green Tourism Certification in Zimbabwe.
