Thonga Beach Lodge is set on the beautiful coastline of Maputuland in KwaZulu-Natal.
This luxury lodge is the ideal place to discover one of the very few untouched wilderness beaches in Africa. Set in the iSimangaliso Wetland Park region, the landscape consists of coastal forests, grasslands, bush, shimmering lakes, and exquisite sandy beaches. The sun-kissed beaches with their warm turquoise waters offer some of the best snorkeling and offshore scuba diving opportunities.
The spacious thatched suites are hidden within the coastal dune forest and raised on wooden stilts to ensure minimal impact on the sensitive dune soils. Inspired by Thonga architecture, the rooms have been carefully positioned to guarantee guest privacy. All rooms feature open-plan bathrooms with double vanities and separate showers and toilets. Deluxe Ocean View and Family Suites also include a freestanding bath.
The seven Forest View Rooms include a large open-plan bedroom with king or twin beds, an en-suite bathroom with double vanity, separate shower and toilet, air-conditioning, overhead fans, minibars, tea and coffee-making facilities, a safe, and hair dryers. Each room has a small deck for enjoying the natural surroundings.
The two Forest View Family Suites are perfect for families traveling with children. These suites offer two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. The spacious main bedroom includes a king or twin beds, an open-plan bathroom with a bath, double vanity, separate toilet, and shower, along with a small balcony overlooking the bush. The smaller second bedroom has two three-quarter beds, an en-suite bathroom with a separate toilet, shower, and basin, and is connected to the main bedroom by a short passage. This passage has doors at both ends for privacy and peace of mind for parents.
The three Ocean View Rooms boast a spacious open-plan bedroom with king or twin beds, a bathroom with double vanity, separate shower and toilet, and a small deck featuring breathtaking ocean views.
The Deluxe Ocean View Suite offers a spacious open-plan bedroom with a king-size bed, a bathroom with a bath, double vanity, separate shower and toilet, and an elevated deck with stunning ocean views and a private plunge pool.
The Deluxe Ocean View Family Suite is set apart from the other rooms for complete privacy. It features two bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom, an expansive deck area, and a private plunge pool. The large open-plan main bedroom has a king-size bed, a full bathroom with a bath, shower, and double vanity. The second bedroom is smaller, with two three-quarter beds and an en-suite bathroom with a shower and toilet.
Activities available at the lodge include snorkeling, scuba diving, sundowners and kayaking at Lake Sibaya, bird watching, guided walks, seasonal turtle tracking, fishing, and visiting a Tsonga homestead to learn about their unique heritage and culture.

A 3-night minimum stay applies from December 15 to January 15.

Went through Newmarket travel and Hays…
Went through Newmarket travel and Hays travel ..information about flight changes hard to get..but on arrival the holiday was taken over Safari.com..amazing ..experience everything was fine tuned and the staff ..guides drivers fabulous and friendly ..lots of knowledge..lots of fun and the surprises they did was so lovely ...loved every minute ..Paris our guide was amazing..10/10 and Eric driver ..the waiters and waitress every and everyone in the hotels .smiling and friendly..Best holiday of my life

Working with Anja at Safari.com was great. She was able to work some magic and got us a few nights at the safari lodge we really wanted, Ngoma. Unfortunately, our flight from the USA to South Africa was canceled and we were rebooked a day later but Anja was great about making sure our lodge and the transports knew about the change in plans and made sure we got to our trip as soon as we could. She was a great partner to have and communicated quickly whenever we reached out. I would highly recommend using her when planning a trip to Africa!
