The detail
Machaba Camp is a classic camp, decorated in an understated 1950s colonial style. Situated on the banks of the Khwai River and offering breathtaking views of the Moremi Game Reserve, it is one of the most exquisite and affordable camps in the region. With its 10 tented rooms, relaxed ambiance, abundant game viewing, and fine dining, it is the ideal safari destination for both couples and families.
Game drives are conducted in the mornings and afternoons/evenings at the camp. These drives usually last about three hours each and explore the river systems and flood plains around the camp. The area is teeming with wildlife, offering a good chance to see large predators, herds of elephants and buffalo, as well as the diverse plains animals native to the region. Night drives are conducted in the early evening, providing an opportunity to spot smaller, more nocturnal animals with the use of spotlights.
Walking safaris are also available, typically conducted in the mornings with armed guides. These walks are unhurried, allowing time to observe the smaller details of the bush that might go unnoticed during a game drive. Walking safaris are dependent on weather conditions and the terrain’s state at the time.
Experience a Mokoro safari in the shallower waters of the Okavango. This peaceful and quiet activity is a wonderful way to explore the waterways. Mokoro excursions take place in the mornings, but longer day trips can also be arranged. Discover the islands around the camp and return feeling rested and rejuvenated.
