You Should Know
Child Policy
Mateya Safari Lodge accepts children aged nine and older. However, children of all ages are welcome with exclusive lodge bookings. Children under five are not allowed on standard game drives. Those aged 13 and under are charged 50% of the adult sharing rate unless staying in their own suite, in which case the full adult rate applies.
Bush Walk Policy
Guests aged 16 and older can participate in bush walks, while those over 60 must provide a medical certificate confirming their fitness. Participation is subject to management's discretion based on safety and suitability.

Stay & Pay
Stay five consecutive nights and pay for only four, available for travel until 15 December 2026. The Winter Bush Break offers three consecutive nights for the price of two, valid for stays from 1 June to 31 August 2026. Both offers apply to new bookings only, are subject to availability at the time of reservation, cannot be exchanged for cash and may not be combined with any other package, promotion, special offer or child rates.
Long stay
Stay four nights and receive a complimentary return seat per person on the Federal Airlines scheduled shuttle between Johannesburg International Airport and the lodge, for travel until 15 December 2026. Flights must be booked through the lodge, apply to every full paying guest per room and are subject to Federal Air availability; a minimum of two guests per flight booking applies and a single guest supplement may be charged. Exclusive-use bookings of the lodge, based on ten guests, enjoy a 10 per cent reduction on the nightly exclusive-use rate until 15 December 2026, with children of all ages welcome. All of these offers are for new bookings only, subject to availability, not redeemable for cash and not combinable with any other package, promotion, special offer or child rates; Federal Airlines cancellation terms apply to the flights.

The Mateya Honeymoon Special gives the bride a 50% discount off the accommodation rate for the full duration of the stay, plus a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine. The offer is valid for new bookings only, subject to availability, and must be taken within six months of the marriage date. A marriage certificate is required. The offer cannot be combined with any other package, promotion, special offer or child rates.

Standard minimum age is 9 to stay and 5 on regular game drives; bush walks in Madikwe are strictly 16+. For sole-use / exclusive-use bookings of the lodge, children of all ages are welcome. A private game-drive vehicle is available on request (standard vehicles seat a maximum of 4 guests), which can be used to accommodate younger children on drives. The lodge has 5 thatched suites (max 10 guests) with no dedicated family unit or interleading rooms. Child rates are not combinable with promotional offers (Flight Special, Stay 5 Pay 4, Honeymoon, Winter Bush Break, Exclusive Use).
