The Details

The lodge was rebuilt with sustainability at its heart, using traditional African motifs and natural materials that blend into the volcanic highland.

The crater below is a self-contained ecosystem sheltering the Big Five alongside vast herds of wildebeest, zebra, and flamingo. Guests can descend on private game drives with expert guides, or explore the crater rim on foot with Maasai guides.

The lodge offers 13 room and suite categories, all with crater views. The Rim Rooms feature Maasai-inspired décor with king or twin beds.

The range extends through Family Rooms, the Enkaji Junior, Executive, Crater, Presidential, Royal and Ngorongoro Suites; and Ngorongoro House, which is a private villa.

Three dining venues celebrate the flavours of Tanzania. The Crater Lounge serves traditional African dishes with Asian influences. The Crater Grill uses fire and coal with local produce. The Crater Bar is the place for sundowners and snacks with some of the best views of the caldera. Signature experiences include a bush lunch inside the crater, a five-course canapé dinner overlooking the caldera, and a private crater-view cocktail experience.

The activity programme spans game drives into the caldera, crater rim walking safaris, Maasai boma visits, and day trips to Olduvai Gorge, one of the world’s most important palaeoanthropology sites, where the Laetoli fossilised footprints and early human artefacts are on display. The Spa rounds out the offering with treatments using Inaya Zanzibar products, inspired by Africa’s rich natural biodiversity.
