The Details

Location

The Oberoi Beach Resort occupies an unrivalled stretch of the pristine shores of Turtle Bay, a protected marine park around 12 miles from the capital Port Louis. Mauritius sits in the Indian Ocean roughly 1,250 miles off the south-east coast of Africa, known for its excellent diving, sunsets and local rum.

The resort spans 20 acres of lush sub-tropical gardens, with traditional thatched architecture, cultural touches and starlit skies framing the stay.

Rooms

Accommodation runs from Luxury Pavilions with garden or ocean views through to Luxury, Premier and Presidential Villas with private pools. Pavilions feature thatched king-sized bedrooms, high ceilings and private terraces with sun loungers.

Villas add walled gardens, sunken marble bathtubs, separate living rooms and al fresco dining pavilions. Larger options include two-bedroom Luxury and Presidential Villas, plus the Three Bedroom Royal Ocean View Villa with two king-sized bedrooms, a twin room and a private pool, designed for families and groups.

Dining

The Restaurant is the all-day venue, naturally lit and looking out across an ocean-facing reflection pool, with Creole, International and Indian cuisine. The Gunpowder Room occupies an 18th-century French colonial building of stone walls and antique wine barrels, serving Mauritian Creole dishes.

The Herb Trail offers communal al fresco dining around an underground fire pit and smokehouse in the herb garden, with a four-course slow-cooked set menu. The Bar is a thatched, open-sided venue for cocktails, Champagne and local rums with live piano. On the Rocks is the signature seafood table, set on dark volcanic rocks rising from the ocean.

Activities

Guests can swim in two outdoor pools with private access and ocean views, work out in the fitness centre, or take to the bay with snorkelling, kayaking, paddleboarding and glass-bottom boat trips. Cultural activities, yoga sessions and excursions to Port Louis and the island's nature reserves can be arranged.

The Oberoi Spa features open-air treatment rooms for couples, with African-inspired therapies, signature Oberoi treatments, sensory experiences and traditional Indian rituals.
