"The Rock Lodge is awesome. The rooms are unbelievably stylish with a rustic African feel. I especially enjoyed the private outdoor shower. The private outdoor pool is very unique, the animals will come to drink in front of your view. The game drives were wonderful. We saw 4 of the big 5, and our guide who had been working for four years saw two animals he had never seen. The views from the Lodge were spectacular and the staff was professional, helpful and courteous. The rate is all inclusive so one felt free to enjoy all the amenities. I have been to the private reserves around Kruger and Phinda Rock is clearly superior. My only complaint, and it is very small, was the food was good but not excellent as I expected. I thought they should have served more game than they did. But, the food was very good. I highly recommend Phinda Rock Lodge."
"Rock Lodge has access to amazing places and really stunning views of an Africa I have only seen on film. The Lodge itself is charming, rustic decor and very comfortable. Staff were personable and helpful demonstrating good management and immediate attention to any problems. The views were amazing, having breakfast watching giraffes and Kudus on the opposite hillside. Our guide and tracker were personable and well informed and the wild life viewing was excellent. It felt very personal and private."
"For safari virgins, could not imagine a better start. Atmospheric accommodation, wonderful deck, delicious food but most importantly, fantastic game viewing. Thought game drives might become boring after awhile, how wrong I was! We felt as though everything about our stay had been personalised just for us."
"My wife and I and her sister and husband spent 4 nights at Rock lodge in Early October. We simply had a wonderful experience. The game viewing was stellar, the attention to detail and personal service from the lodge staff were wonderful and the food was delicious. Altogether a most memorable trip and one that we would love to do again."
"We spent the first four nights of our South African honeymoon at Rock Lodge in early October and it was really the highlight of an altogether amazing trip! The lodge and rooms themselves are well appointed and comfortable while still maintaining the feeling of being in the wilderness. Private deck with plunge pool that animals visit, indoor and outdoor shower, and did I mention the cabinet stocked with booze? The feeling of remoteness (only 6 rooms on site) was so welcome for us coming from NYC. We were privileged to have Toby as our Ranger and Joel as spotter, and they both did an exemplary job. Toby clearly has a lot of love for what he does and will go out of his way to make sure guests get a great sighting. Our butler Mr. M was also incredible, even going so far as to serve us a private dinner for two on our private deck and having a bubble bath with champagne waiting for us when we returned from a game drive. An altogether incredible experience we will remember for a life time!"
"This exclusive lodge accommodations only 12 guests with 6 rooms in total. The design theme for the lodge is a "Flintstones" type theme with a lot of smooth rock finishes and round wood edges. The lodge is very secluded making it perfect for honeymoon couples or anyone just wanting to retreat into absolute privacy. You may be interrupted by a elephant coming to drink out of your private plunge pool."

"Rock Lodge is exactly what it says it is. The Lodge is built at the top of the Rock and the rooms are scattered on the rock face below. The door lock is a long chunk of wood you just slide in place. The walls are adobe mud but all inside is modern and very comfortable. The lunch here was the best, do not skip it. The views are unimaginable. The safari drives were very good too. Our first encounter with wild Cheetah and the endangered Black Rhino, thank you Nick & Musa. Obed gave us a lovely chocolate birthday cake, plus champagne, served out in the bush as the sun went down. Wonderful."
"We spent three days at Rock Lodge in March. On arrival we were met by the welcoming committee (Professor and Presence) with cool drinks and damp towels to refresh us after our drive from Durban. Our cases were quickly whisked away to our lodgings. We had not been allocated the suite we had requested but after one night we were moved closer to our choice. The rooms are large, if a little dark, and the bathroom is a good size. It was delightful to have Nyala and a great variety of birdlife around the accommodation. Addy presented us with a large choice of cold meats and salads for lunch on the patio outside the main lounge with lovely views of the park and the occasional passing animal. We were the only two guests on our first game drive. Our ranger, Matt was very informative and asked us which animals we would particularly like to see and did his best to oblige. During our visit Matt and his spotters managed to find most of the animals we had on our list. We even saw a cheetah kill - a first for me and I have been visiting game reserves for decades! The choice of evening meals was fairly limited but still enjoyable."
"I love Phinda and have been coming here for 20+ years. Have stayed in all the lodges except Homestead. Rock is great - nice and small - only 6 rooms. It was quiet time when we were there, so were lucky enough to have vehicle mostly to ourselves. Saw Big 5. Great Ranger, Matt and the staff at the lodge were fantastic. The food was very good. I have said the pool is better than average as it is a private plunge pool at your room. Nice and private."
"This is our second time to Rock and we were not disappointed, everything about this lodge is excellent including the Lodge Manager Presence who is excellent, the Chief the food is amazing, and all the staff and Rangers are fantastic, especially Matt Yardley and Matt Murray The Lodge is very clean and the staff really can't do enough for you and if you are thinking about booking this lodge you will not be disappointed, the other lodges in this reserve could really do with following this lodge as my experience of the other lodges in this reserve is very bad. Keep up the good work Presence."
