You should know
- No guests under the age of 13 are permitted unless the camp is booked for exclusive use.
- Exclusive use of the camp requires a minimum booking for seven individuals. If children are part of the exclusive-use group, they are charged at the full rate and included towards the maximum occupancy of eight individuals.
The details
Known as a fantastic game viewing and birding destination in KwaZulu Natal, Rhino Sands is situated in a prime location for a private Big 5 safari adventure.
Each of the four tented suites is situated in a private area of the surrounding riverine forest and offers magnificent views of the river below, where animals frequently come to drink at permanent water holes throughout the year. Each classic tent is designed to open completely on three sides, allowing guests to truly admire the African bush. The tents are luxuriously appointed with a private swimming pool, lounge, and outdoor shower.
The main camp area features a reception office, casual bar lounge space, formal lounge, and both formal and casual dining areas. There is also a large boma area complete with a bush oven for guests to enjoy dining fireside beneath the stars. Electricity runs entirely on a solar installation.
Rhino Sands Safari Camp is ideal for solo explorers, couples, and families looking for an authentic Big 5 safari experience.

Child rates

On such bookings, children pay the full adult rate and count toward the maximum occupancy of ten guests. No dedicated family or interleading unit is available — the four tented suites are each configured for two adults.

Village visit
Zulu Cultural Tour
Guests visit one of the Zulu communities living on the boundary of Manyoni Private Game Reserve. The tour offers a feel for everyday village life and includes visits to community projects supported by the Zululand Conservation Trust. Transport is included with ZCT and the activity runs from 10 am–2 pm. Must be booked in advance and is only available upon special request.
Duration: 10 am–2 pm (approx. 4 hours). Min 2 pax, max 10 pax. Morning activity. Transport included with ZCT. Must be booked in advance; only available upon special request.
