The Detail

Set against the backdrop of the magnificent Waterberg Mountain Range in the Limpopo Province, the exquisite beauty of its wide-open savannahs, rich wildlife heritage, and spectacular vistas creates an idyllic melting pot for a majestic wilderness destination. Close to Gauteng, only a couple of hours' drive from the city, the extravagant haven that is Safari Plains is sure to captivate you. Once experienced, it will draw you to return again and again.

Each of the breathtaking tented suites offers a stunning setting within the natural, indigenous bushveld. These safari-style tents provide the utmost comfort and an opulent ambiance, featuring private timber wraparound decks. All tented suites are tastefully appointed with sunken baths, separate showers, and private facilities. The hospitality armoire includes a fully stocked minibar fridge along with tea and coffee facilities. Air conditioning throughout the space ensures that guests can enjoy year-round, temperature-controlled tented accommodation.

Long stay

Stay five nights or more, either at Safari Plains alone or by combining two or more Extraordinary properties in the same itinerary, and save 5% on the total accommodation cost. The offer applies to travel from now until 15 December 2026 and again from 3 January to 15 December 2027, for individual bookings on standard rates, and cannot be combined with other specials or stay-pay offers.

Family

Children aged five and under stay complimentary, and children from six to eighteen years are charged at 50% of the adult sharing rate. Family Suites accommodate up to four guests; one adult sharing with children pays the single adult rate, and children under six may join family safaris at management discretion.

Bush & beach

The Bushveld to Table Mountain package pairs your safari with the Cape: stay three nights or more at Safari Plains and receive three complimentary nights at The Cape Milner in Cape Town in a Standard room, with the safari nights charged at the applicable standard rate. Valid for travel from 1 May to 31 August 2027, for individual bookings on standard rates, and not combinable with other specials or stay-pay offers. A five-night combination itinerary of two nights at Safari Plains and three nights at The Cape Milner is also available, with the standard child policy applying and transfers and conservation levies excluded.

Exceptions

Children under 6 years are only permitted on dedicated family safaris at management discretion (standard game-drive minimum is 6). Children under 16 are not permitted on guided walks. Festive meal surcharges apply on Christmas Day and New Year's Eve: R450 per adult and R225 per child aged 6–11. Exclusive-use family-access arrangements are documented for other Extraordinary properties but not explicitly confirmed for Safari Plains.

"Jolene was simply extraordinary. She put together what became an absolutely incredible African trip for us in the space of barely three weeks, and from the outset her responsiveness, knowledge and genuine enthusiasm were exceptional. Nothing was ever too much trouble, responses were almost immediate, and she very quickly understood exactly what we were looking for, our expectations and the way we like to travel. More than simply being an expert at what she does, Jolene genuinely cared about making the trip special for us, and that came through in every aspect of her planning. What particularly impressed us was the flexibility with which she brought everything together. We already had some of our own arrangements in place, including international flights and staying with friends in Cape Town, but Jolene seamlessly incorporated those into the overall itinerary and still organised all the surrounding logistics and transfers. The safari component she designed was outstanding, taking us through Kruger, Victoria Falls, Chobe and the Okavango Delta, before finishing in Cape Town and the Stellenbosch wine region. Every part flowed beautifully and the lodges, experiences and logistics were exceptional. Just as importantly, Jolene stayed in contact throughout the trip at all the key moments, which made travelling so much easier. She would check us in for our internal flights and send through the boarding passes, confirm transfers the day before each pick-up, and make sure everything was in place before we ever had to think about it. That attention to detail, and the fact that she was always one step ahead, removed so much of the usual travel stress and allowed us simply to enjoy the trip. It was genuinely the trip of a lifetime, put together in an extraordinarily short timeframe, and Jolene deserves enormous credit for making it all happen. We could not recommend her highly enough."
