The Details

Location

Senalala is set in the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve, a large private reserve that shares unfenced borders with Kruger National Park and the wider Greater Kruger ecosystem. Animals move freely between the reserves, so the game viewing is genuinely wild rather than staged. The nearest town is Hoedspruit, an easy drive or short flight from Johannesburg.

Rooms

Guests stay in spacious en-suite chalets built to sit lightly in the bush. Interiors are understated rather than showy, with comfortable beds, private bathrooms and views out into the reserve. The lodge is deliberately small, which keeps the atmosphere close and the guiding attentive.

Dining

Activities

The core activity is two daily game drives on open safari vehicles, one at first light and one into the late afternoon and dusk. Guides work Klaserie's traversing area, so drives can range widely rather than looping the same tracks. Between drives, guests can use the gym, swim, or simply sit and watch the bush.
