The Details

Location

Shongwe Lookout sits at 553 Mopane Street in the suburbs of Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe's most famous wildlife town. The lodge is roughly half a mile from the town centre and a mile from the Falls, giving guests a quiet hideaway within easy reach of the main attractions.

The signature feature is a four-storey lookout tower with two platforms that rise above the treetops, offering views across to the Zambezi River and the mist rising above the Falls.

Accommodation

The lodge has 23 rooms in three categories. Sixteen Deluxe rooms of around 300 square feet each include bath, shower and king-sized extra-length beds, with ten of these configured as inter-leading pairs for families. Four Studio rooms of the same size offer twin single beds and walk-in showers, two of them with wheelchair access. Three Executive rooms of around 390 square feet sit within the main house and include a private verandah overlooking the tropical gardens.

Every room is air-conditioned with fans inside mosquito nets, a desk, room safe, USB and universal power points, hairdryer, tea and coffee facilities, his-and-hers basins, and complimentary Wi-Fi.

Dining

The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner under Chef Jason, with a focus on local ingredients used innovatively in traditional European dishes. A bar and a boma area complement the main dining room, and guests can take meals beside the infinity pool or in the tropical garden.

Activities

Shongwe Lookout is a town-based lodge rather than a game lodge, with the four-storey lookout tower, infinity pool, Nicole Sanderson Art Gallery and Mvula Boutique Spa on site. The team can arrange Victoria Falls activities and airport transfers on request, including tours of the Falls, river cruises and adventure activities in town.

Spa

Guests have access to Mvula Boutique Spa, a partner property tucked away on the Oasis grounds. Treatments include couples' massages, facials, African green clay body wraps, manicures, pedicures and make-up for special occasions.

  • Accommodation in your chosen room category
  • Full breakfast daily
  • 14.5% VAT and 2% statutory tourism tax

"Booked an 11-day tour starting and finishing in Johannesburg and including Victoria Falls, Chobe and the Okavango Delta. The service from Cearl was very professional with numerous options discussed before settling on the final version. Prices seemed to be very reasonable."
