The Details
Location
Lebombo rests on a ridge in the far eastern reaches of Kruger National Park, where the Singita concession runs for 33,000 acres along the Mozambique border. The lodge looks west across a valley cut by the N'wanetsi River, with the Lebombo Mountains rising behind it. The position is high and open, the kind of vantage that lets you read the movement of antelope, elephant and the occasional pride of lions from the deck.
Setting
The architecture takes its cues from an eagle's nest. Walls of glass dissolve the boundary between interior and bush, and timber walkways thread between the buildings so that grazing antelope often pass within a few feet of guests. Warm earthy tones, raw timber and woven textures keep the design rooted in the landscape rather than competing with it. Communal spaces include the Long Bar, the Winter Lounge built around an open fire, an outdoor firepit, a deck for sundowners and the Wine Cellar.
Accommodation
The lodge has fifteen loft-style suites raised on stilts above the river. Each is built almost entirely of glass, with a private deck, a plunge pool and an indoor-outdoor lounge that opens directly onto the valley. Interiors mix industrial materials with soft, organic textures, and every suite has uninterrupted views over the wilderness below.
Dining
Meals are taken in a number of indoor and outdoor settings, from the main dining area to bush breakfasts and dinners under the stars. The kitchen draws on produce from the lodge's own garden and showcases contemporary South African cooking. The Wine Cellar holds an extensive collection of South African wines, and guided tastings trace the cultivars back to the landscapes they come from.
Activities
Twice-daily game drives are the core activity, led by expert guides and trackers on open vehicles across the private concession. Big Five sightings are common, and the low vehicle density means encounters are unhurried. Guided bush walks, archery, stargazing, yoga and visits to the Singita Community Culinary School round out the offering, alongside a fitness centre, swimming pool, boutique and gallery.
