The Details

Location

The resort occupies a stretch of beach on the south-west tip of Mauritius, directly beneath the basalt monolith of Le Morne Brabant. The mountain is a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its role as a refuge for escaped slaves in the 18th and 19th centuries, and the lagoon below is one of the best kitesurfing spots in the Indian Ocean.

Architecture takes its cues from the colonial plantation houses of old Mauritius, with pitched roofs, wide verandahs and shaded courtyards arranged around landscaped gardens that run down to the beach.

Rooms

The St Regis Le Morne has 172 rooms and suites, all with private balcony or terrace and views over the gardens, ocean or mountain. Categories run from Deluxe rooms through Junior, Ocean and Beachfront Suites up to the two-bedroom St Regis Suite and the Villa Le Morne, a private three-bedroom beachfront residence with its own pool.

Every guest is assigned a personal butler around the clock, a St Regis signature, handling everything from unpacking to packing, in-room cocktails and bespoke excursions.

Dining

Six restaurants and bars cover the day. Le Manoir offers all-day international dining with show kitchens and themed evenings. Atsuko serves contemporary Japanese, including teppanyaki and sushi. Boathouse Grill is the casual beachfront option for seafood and grills, while The Boathouse Bar and the signature St Regis Bar handle sundowners, afternoon tea and the resort's daily champagne sabrage ritual.

In-villa dining and private beach dinners can be arranged through the butler service.

Activities

The lagoon is set up for non-motorised watersports including kayaking, paddleboarding, windsurfing and glass-bottom-boat trips, all complimentary. Kitesurfing, scuba diving and big-game fishing are available at additional cost. On land, guests can hike Le Morne Brabant with a local guide, play the championship 18-hole course at Paradis Golf Club next door, or unwind at the Iridium Spa, which has nine treatment rooms and an indoor relaxation pool.
