The Details
This luxury lodge is the ideal place to discover one of the very few untouched wilderness beaches in Africa. Set in the iSimangaliso Wetland Park region, the landscape consists of coastal forests, grasslands, bush, shimmering lakes, and exquisite sandy beaches. The sun-kissed beaches with their warm turquoise waters offer some of the best snorkeling and offshore scuba diving opportunities.
The spacious thatched suites are hidden within the coastal dune forest and raised on wooden stilts to ensure minimal impact on the sensitive dune soils. Inspired by Thonga architecture, the rooms have been carefully positioned to guarantee guest privacy. All rooms feature open-plan bathrooms with double vanities and separate showers and toilets. Deluxe Ocean View and Family Suites also include a freestanding bath.
Forest View Rooms
The seven Forest View Rooms include a large open-plan bedroom with king or twin beds, an en-suite bathroom with double vanity, separate shower and toilet, air-conditioning, overhead fans, minibars, tea and coffee-making facilities, a safe, and hair dryers. Each room has a small deck for enjoying the natural surroundings.
Forest View Family Suites
The two Forest View Family Suites are perfect for families traveling with children. These suites offer two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. The spacious main bedroom includes a king or twin beds, an open-plan bathroom with a bath, double vanity, separate toilet, and shower, along with a small balcony overlooking the bush. The smaller second bedroom has two three-quarter beds, an en-suite bathroom with a separate toilet, shower, and basin, and is connected to the main bedroom by a short passage. This passage has doors at both ends for privacy and peace of mind for parents.
Ocean View Rooms
The three Ocean View Rooms boast a spacious open-plan bedroom with king or twin beds, a bathroom with double vanity, separate shower and toilet, and a small deck featuring breathtaking ocean views.
Deluxe Ocean View Suite
The Deluxe Ocean View Suite offers a spacious open-plan bedroom with a king-size bed, a bathroom with a bath, double vanity, separate shower and toilet, and an elevated deck with stunning ocean views and a private plunge pool.
Deluxe Ocean View Family Suite
The Deluxe Ocean View Family Suite is set apart from the other rooms for complete privacy. It features two bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom, an expansive deck area, and a private plunge pool. The large open-plan main bedroom has a king-size bed, a full bathroom with a bath, shower, and double vanity. The second bedroom is smaller, with two three-quarter beds and an en-suite bathroom with a shower and toilet.
Activities available at the lodge include snorkeling, scuba diving, sundowners and kayaking at Lake Sibaya, bird watching, guided walks, seasonal turtle tracking, fishing, and visiting a Tsonga homestead to learn about their unique heritage and culture.

Family unit available. Thonga Beach Lodge - can accommodate 1 additional child per room. 3 Family suites are available. Family Room configuration allows 2 adults sharing with 1 or 2 children occupying both bedrooms of a Family Room, or 1 adult sharing with 2 children occupying both bedrooms.
Child rates
Children from 4-18 years only are charged child rates at Thonga Beach Lodge. Children 19 years & over travelling with parents are charged adult rates. Non-family rooms: 2 adults sharing with 1 child (extra bed in adult's room) - 0-3 yrs no charge, 4-12 yrs pays 50% of adult rate, 13-18 yrs pays 75% of adult rate. 1 adult sharing with 1 child older than 3 years pays adult rate + child pays 75% (4-12) or 100% (13-18). 1 adult sharing with 1 child younger than 3 years - adult rate plus 30%, no charge for child. Family rooms (both bedrooms): 0-3 yrs no charge, 4-12 yrs pays 50%, 13-18 yrs pays 75%. All family rooms carry a minimum charge of 2 adults and 1 child aged 12.
