This 8-day tour explores the capital city of Nairobi, the Amboseli National Park which offers spectacular views of Tanzania's Mt Kilimanjaro, and the Masai Mara National Park which is known for its annual Great Migration.

Overview

Kenya is a magnificent country that encompasses savannah, Lakelands, the dramatic Great Rift Valley, and mountain highlands.

Your adventure begins deep inside the Nairobi National Park with an overnight stay at Nairobi Tented Camp - the only camp situated within the Nairobi National Park. Your time is spent exploring Kenya's oldest reserve, well known for its Black Rhino Sanctuary and sightings of lions, leopards, hyenas, and other fascinating wildlife.

Your journey continues to the Amboseli National Park, often regarded as the best place in Kenya to see elephants at close range. You will spend two nights at the award-winning Porini Amboseli Camp which is located in the private Selenkay concession, affording guests incredible game viewing opportunities during game drives that venture off the beaten track.

After an exciting safari experience in Amboseli, you head to the vast 90 000 acre Ol Pejeta Conservancy; a pristine wildlife area between the Aberdares and the majestic Mount Kenya. The conservancy is home to a variety of animals including the Big Five. It is the largest wildlife sanctuary in East Africa for the endangered Black Rhino and also provides sanctuary to rescued chimpanzees. You will spend two nights at Porini Rhino Camp; an intimate bush camp designed to have minimal impact on the environment.

Your safari adventure then takes you to the Olare Motorogi Conservancy - a pristine and exclusive 33 000 acre wilderness. This large area borders the Masai Mara National Reserve and is home to an abundance of animals, particularly the big cats which the Mara is well known for. Typically during the months of July through early October, the Masai Mara is most popular for the Great Migration.

When not out exploring the African bush, you will spend your time at the intimate Porini Lion Camp - a camp that offers a genuine “away from it all” experience deep in the African bush. During your two night stay at Porini Lion Camp, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a hot air balloon safari which offers spectacular views of the reserve.

If you are looking for an authentic tented safari experience in some of Kenya's best game reserves then this tour is the ideal choice.

Day 1: Arrive Nairobi Wilson Airport

Your safari adventure begins today as you arrive at Nairobi Wilson Airport where you will be met and transferred by road to your camp.

Depending on your time of arrival, you may get to experience your first game drive in the Nairobi National Park. The reserve inhabits 100 mammal species including buffalo, giraffe, lion, leopard, baboon, zebra, wildebeest, cheetah and guaranteed sightings of rhino. There is also the opportunity of seeing over 500 migratory and endemic bird species.

After an exciting safari, you will return to camp for drinks and exchange stories around the campfire before dinner under the vast African star-lit sky, ultimately retreating to the comfort of your bed in your cozy tent.

Accommodation: Nairobi Tented Camp

Day 2 - 3: Amboseli National Park - Enjoy the best views of Mount Kilimanjaro

This morning you bid farewell to Nairobi as you transfer back to Wilson Airport for an early morning flight to Amboseli. On your arrival, you will be met and transferred to your camp.

After settling into your suite and enjoying a sumptuous lunch, you will venture out on an afternoon game drive. Selenkay Conservancy, to the north of Amboseli National Park, is an important dispersal area for wildlife migrating through Amboseli. Rare animals seen in the conservancy frequently include caracal, African wild cat, serval cat, genet cat, honey badger, and striped hyena.

The next day is spent on scheduled day and night game drives within the Selenkay Conservancy and the Amboseli National Park. Night game drives are perfect for seeking out the nocturnal animals inhabiting the Selenkay Conservancy.

Accommodation: Porini Amboseli Camp

Day 4 - 5: Ol Pejeta Conservancy - Rhino & Chimpanzee Sanctuary

After walking with the Maasai warriors to a local Masai village, sit down to a sumptuous breakfast before gathering your belongings and traveling by road to Amboseli Airport for your scheduled flight to Nanyuki Airstrip. On arrival, you will transfer by road to the Ol Pejeta Conservancy where you will check into camp.

This late afternoon you will set off in an open-sided 4x4 vehicle for your first evening game drive in the Ol Pejeta Conservancy.

The next day will be spent on day and night shared game drives, escorted walks, sundowners, a visit to Baraka the Black Rhino & Information Centre and a visit to the Chimpanzee Sanctuary.

Accommodation: Porini Rhino Camp

Day: 6 - 7: Masai Mara Safari Adventure

This morning you bid farewell to Porini Rhino Camp as you travel by road to the Nanyuki Airstrip for your scheduled flight to Masai Mara. On arrival, you will transfer by road to the private Olare Motorogi Conservancy.

You venture out this afternoon on a night game drive within the Conservancy in search of the Mara big cats and other nocturnal species.

The next day is spent on morning and night game drives exploring the pristine wilderness of the Masai Mara National Reserve and the private conservancy. If you are travelling during the months of the mammal migration, Porini Lion Camp is the ideal base from which to witness this spectacle.

You will also have the opportunity to enjoy guided bush walks that are such to heighten your senses, or if you feeling adventurous perhaps an exhilarating hot air balloon safari would do the trick.

Accommodation: Porini Lion Camp

Day 8: Depart Nairobi Wilson Airport

After one final game drive and a hearty breakfast, you will gather your belongings and bid farewell to Kenya as you fly back to Nairobi Wilson Airport. Here, you will connect with your onward travel arrangements.

Spending 40 years in the travel…
Spending 40 years in the travel industry and taking several Safari to Kenya, my wife and I reached out to Dolan at Safari.com to help plan our S. African Safari to Kruger. Dolan handled all aspects of the planning including transfers to and from airport, plane reservations and lodging at the 5-star Leopard Hills lodge. With just a couple of emails he made the planning seamless. every aspect was on-time, and all responses were very timely. We can't wait to go back and would highly recommend Dolan at Safari.com

Unorgettable trip in South Africa
We have spent 12 days as a family in South Africa with my 3 children and my wife who is in a wheelchair. Thanks to Pascal, Safari.com consultant, we were able to spend an unforgettable moment with a great program while being well accompanied despite our constraints. I recommand particularly the "Monwana game lodge" for a safari in Hoedspruit. It's an amazing place with very nice people and a real family atmosphere. Thank you to the entire Safari.com team for this unforgettable trip.

Cape Town miracle
I was in Cape Town, South Africa recently for an athletic competition and had allowed myself a week of personal time to relax and properly conclude the trip, but had not bothered to plan a safari to occupy the time. I was skeptical of the cost and whether I would enjoy the experience, however a couple days into that final week it occurred to me, in a bit of a panic attack, what a waste it would be not to take advantage of this opportunity. I hopped online and started looking at flights to Johannesburg (almost all the safaris in SA start there with an early morning pick up), but it was basically impossible to get a flight early enough and/or to coordinate with the multiple safaris operating in or just outside of Kruger. With no apparent options available to turn my remaining 4 1/2 days into even a 3 day safari I stumbled on the most obvious website one could imagine, Safari.com. I'd completely given up negotiating all the variables on my own but here was a safari travel agent that might be able to help me .. and they were based right out of Cape Town, literally a stones throw from my lodgings. Serendipity, or so i hoped. I immediately sent out an email and crossed my fingers .. for roughly an hour and a half, at which point Dolan from Safari.com responded to me requesting I give him a call so that we could expedite potential arrangements. My in country phone plan wasn't able to make calls, but we arranged for him to call me and not 3 hours after being in the grip of despair Dolan got through to me and far from notifying me of how absurd it was to hold out hope for a literally, last minute safari adventure with barely 4 days available to me, he had already worked out all the details I'd sent and created a preliminary safari trip that would bypass Johannesburg airport for a flight the next morning to a closer, much, much smaller airport where I would be picked up taken, not to a 3 day safari, but a full 4 day safari, then back to the tiny, tiny airport for a return flight to Cape Town with 2 hours to spare for my return leg all the way home. It almost feels like an afterthought, after the minor miracle Dolan was able to conjure up, but the safari itself at Simbavati Lodge was just an absolutely stunning experience. The single "tent" he booked me was as luxurious as any 4 star hotel I've stayed in, the game drives, one every morning, one every evening were more amazing than I could have ever imagined, and the food, 3 meals a day with snacks and an open bar was sublime. I could go on about the wonderful staff, or the wonderful other safari goers you can meet and grab a drink with, or the different animals walking through the open lodge facilities daily .. but I've gone on long enough. I'll simply conclude by saying .. safari, absolutely, yes, do it, it is amazing. And when you do decide, Safari.com will do you right and if you have the pleasure of working with Dolan, do give him my thanks .. the entire experience was the best part of my trip :)

A great company
What to say! We planned a South African Safari for 2020 with Safari.com. We researched companies and took a chance on one we had never heard of before. Henry Franklin was our agent, we gave him our budget and wish list. He came up with a wonderful looking trip and we made our choices! Then came Covid, preventing us from going. We couldn’t have been in better hands. Henry rebooked everything for the next year. He kept us updated on how things looked there. When in 2021, we decided it still looked iffy, he rebooked us a second time for 2022. We couldn’t have been happier with the service we had in a rough time for all. We had a wonderful experience on our trip when we finally got to go!! Henry had everything so well organized and gave us a detailed list of what transfer companies would be meeting us and when. When Airlink bumped us and put us on standby returning from Victoria Falls, we called the concierge number Henry had given us and Catherine worked hard on this and got us back on our flight. The Safari.com team had our back and we have no regrets. Would definitely use them again. Our lodging was wonderful, saw the big 5 within first 2 drives. Henry definitely knew the territory and did a great job matching what we wanted with where he suggested we go and stay. Thanks Safari.com, Henry and Catherine!

Superior service, knowledgeable, transparent, amazing can-do attitude
These guys get 10/10. I have booked with them a few times. To Kruger National Park, including both public and private(concession) camps, flights and car hire. Their senior agent, Dolan is exceptional. Nothing is too much trouble. Attention to detail, transparency, and 'can-do' attitude are out of the ordinary. I recently came into contact with Tanya at safari.com as well. It looks like all their agents are similarly well trained. Thank you. I cannot recommend Dolan and his team highly enough.
