8 Day Amboseli, Mount Kenya & Masai Mara Flying Safari

Enquire Now

This 8-day tour explores the capital city of Nairobi, the Amboseli National Park which offers spectacular views of Tanzania's Mt Kilimanjaro, and the Masai Mara National Park which is known for its annual Great Migration.

Overview

Kenya is a magnificent country that encompasses savannah, Lakelands, the dramatic Great Rift Valley, and mountain highlands.

Your adventure begins deep inside the Nairobi National Park with an overnight stay at Nairobi Tented Camp, the only camp situated within the park. Your time is spent exploring Kenya's oldest reserve, well known for its Black Rhino Sanctuary and sightings of lions, leopards, hyenas, and other fascinating wildlife.

Your journey continues to the Amboseli National Park, often regarded as the best place in Kenya to see elephants at close range. You will spend two nights at the award-winning Porini Amboseli Camp, which is located in the private Selenkay concession, affording guests incredible game viewing opportunities during game drives that venture off the beaten track.

After an exciting safari experience in Amboseli, you head to the vast 90,000-acre Ol Pejeta Conservancy, a pristine wildlife area between the Aberdares and the majestic Mount Kenya. The conservancy is home to a variety of animals including the Big Five. It is the largest wildlife sanctuary in East Africa for the endangered Black Rhino and also provides sanctuary to rescued chimpanzees. You will spend two nights at Porini Rhino Camp, an intimate bush camp designed to have minimal impact on the environment.

Your safari adventure then takes you to the Olare Motorogi Conservancy, a pristine and exclusive 33,000-acre wilderness. This large area borders the Masai Mara National Reserve and is home to an abundance of animals, particularly the big cats which the Mara is well known for. Typically, during the months of July through early October, the Masai Mara is most popular for the Great Migration.

When not out exploring the African bush, you will spend your time at the intimate Porini Lion Camp, a camp that offers a genuine "away from it all" experience deep in the African bush. During your two-night stay at Porini Lion Camp, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a hot air balloon safari that offers spectacular views of the reserve.

If you are looking for an authentic tented safari experience in some of Kenya's best game reserves, then this tour is the ideal choice.

Day 1: Arrive Nairobi Wilson Airport

Your safari adventure begins today as you arrive at Nairobi Wilson Airport, where you will be met and transferred by road to your camp.

Depending on your time of arrival, you may experience your first game drive in the Nairobi National Park. The reserve inhabits 100 mammal species, including buffalo, giraffe, lion, leopard, baboon, zebra, wildebeest, cheetah, and guaranteed sightings of rhino. There is also the opportunity to see over 500 migratory and endemic bird species.

After an exciting safari, you will return to camp for drinks and exchange stories around the campfire before dinner under the vast African star-lit sky, ultimately retreating to the comfort of your bed in your cozy tent.

After settling into your suite and enjoying a sumptuous lunch, you will venture out on an afternoon game drive. Selenkay Conservancy, to the north of Amboseli National Park, is an important dispersal area for wildlife migrating through Amboseli. Rare animals seen in the conservancy frequently include caracal, African wild cat, serval cat, genet cat, honey badger, and striped hyena.

The next day is spent on scheduled day and night game drives within the Selenkay Conservancy and the Amboseli National Park. Night game drives are perfect for seeking out the nocturnal animals inhabiting the Selenkay Conservancy.

Anja at Safari.com was a great partner to work with!
Working with Anja at Safari.com was great. She was able to work some magic and got us a few nights at the safari lodge we really wanted, Ngoma. Unfortunately, our flight from the USA to South Africa was canceled and we were rebooked a day later but Anja was great about making sure our lodge and the transports knew about the change in plans and made sure we got to our trip as soon as we could. She was a great partner to have and communicated quickly whenever we reached out. I would highly recommend using her when planning a trip to Africa!
