Ngala Private Game Reserve shares unfenced borders with the world-renowned Kruger National Park, home to the Big Five. At Ngala Safari Lodge, you’ll experience an adventurous yet intimate safari, perfectly set in this exquisite landscape.

- Children of all ages are welcome at the lodge.
- Children aged five years and younger are not permitted on game drives, and children younger than twelve are not allowed on bush walks. Private vehicles can be pre-booked.

The Details
Ngala Private Game Reserve was among the first concessions to be officially incorporated into the exclusive Greater Kruger National Park, allowing for exceptional traversing opportunities in this breathtaking region. Combining first-class luxury with eco-friendly construction, Ngala offers a safari experience that embodies the true spirit of Kruger.
The name "Ngala," meaning "lion," captures the essence of this romantic lodge. Ngala is a serene holiday destination. The lodge's colonial style is reflected in its soft evening lighting, wooden finishes, and charming courtyards, with bomas providing a magical setting for dinner. These thoughtful touches infuse Ngala with its rich and distinctive character.
Ngala Safari Lodge boasts twenty thatched Cottages, each complete with an en-suite bathroom, air-conditioning, and private veranda. The cottages have floor-to-ceiling glass windows, maximizing the sunny safari days.
The three Family Cottages consist of two suites that are conveniently interlinked via a door for easy access and can accommodate two adults and two children.
The luxurious Family Suite has its own en-suite bathroom, viewing deck, personal pool, and exclusive use of a safari vehicle.
The lodge offers guests early morning and late afternoon Big Five game drives, interpretive bush walks, as well as tracking and photographic safaris. Ngala Safari Lodge is ideal for families looking for an exclusive safari getaway, wildlife enthusiasts, photographers, and honeymooners or couples seeking the intimacy and romance synonymous with lodges such as this.

Notable exceptions
- All ages may stay at the lodge. Standard minimum age for game drives is 6; children of any age may join drives if a Private Vehicle is paid for, with sightings access at the guide's discretion. Nature walks remain 12+. Family Cottages (interleading rooms, max 2 adults + 2 children) and a Family Villa accommodate families. A single supplement applies when an adult shares with an infant under 6. Ngala Treehouse: max 2 adults + 2 children (10–16 years) on request, 25% supplement per child per night; no unaccompanied guests under 18. Family Cottages/Suites/Villas are charged per unit and standard child rates do not apply.

Ngala Treehouse
The andBeyond Ngala Treehouse is a standalone 4-level overnight wilderness experience that must be booked in conjunction with a Cottage or Tented Suite at either Ngala Safari Lodge or Ngala Tented Camp. The treehouse features two sleep areas: level 3 is covered and weatherproofed with a king-size bed, and level 4 is an open sleep-out platform under a retractable awning. The experience includes a stocked bar, a starlit picnic dinner, and midnight and breakfast snacks. Priced per treehouse per night.
Maximum 2 adults + 2 children (ages 10–16 years). Children admitted on request basis with a 25% supplement per child per night. No unaccompanied guests under 18 years old. Must be booked in conjunction with a Cottage/Tented Suite at Ngala Safari Lodge or Ngala Tented Camp. Not valid Jun–Aug. Includes stocked bar, starlit picnic dinner, midnight and breakfast snacks. In bad weather all occupants share the king-size bed on level 3. Rate (2026): ZAR 8,100 per treehouse per night (High Season, 11 Jan 2026 – 10 Jan 2027).
